I'm not sure if the Devs have any plans to ever expand on this, but what do people think about having more secret islands? Or more "fantasy like" islands in places on the map that are dead bodies of water?

EDIT: I think it could add a lot of flavor to the game, so I say yes. but I also understand that it could potentially cause some problems (that I don't see). What do others think?

I wish they had it for exploring the map.  Give every one basic map with just Nation Capitals and some important trade (freetowns) but every thing else you need to explore and actually go to before you can see it.

If they ever made Pirates more like a Privateer Faction that is the only way to do RvR is by hiring out to a Nation than you can give the Faction Pirate Haven ports.  These ports are like Free towns but used by mainly pirates and those that find them.  They don't show up on the map unless you have been to them or your a Pirate/Privateer.  They can't be captured either (since Pirates/outlawas aren't involved in RvR).

Oh, no, please not! I neither like the idea of more fantasy islands nor the idea of an unknown map to players. We’re not playing Columbus after all.

After the arrival of Russia, Poland and Prussia in the Caribbean I don't give a shit about historical accuracy. I just want new content which allows us to have fun.

We are playing a game that lacks, a lot, varied pve content.

Probably one of the main negatives of steam reviews. If the devs do nothing, the issue will remain and affect the longevity and player retention of the game.

The game is highly missing a lot of content that needs to be there to give folks interst in the game and to get folks to do stuff other than sit in port.  I been to every port on the map and I really see no reason to do it again.  Now if there was a fog of war to relearn things and special rewards for doing things and missions I would do it over again.  Right now I have no reason to do it again though.

I'm more Pissed Portugal didn't make it in game and they actually had ships on this side of the map unlike 2 of those nations that never even owned a port.  Prussia had one for 4 years, but it was in the 1600's not in our time period.  If your going to add new nations i want to have Barbary Corsairs added to the game too, I mean we are getting that French Xebec some time soon right?

Yeah, i would love this. I discovered Kidd's by accident while sailing to bermuda and it was pretty cool. The hidden Island's should have capturable ports like Kidd's but should not be in the map tool, if you have not been there yourself and its name in conquest information should only be available to those that have been there before... @admin @Ink Please, consider this. More hidden islands = exploration OW content. Small clans could have a hideout port there, if they find the hidden island.

Pretty much this. We have fantasy islands in game already anyways, and i like it. As Peter Goldmann mentioned, they are nice easter eggs and nice content. I'm pretty sure back then not every tiny titty island was mapped with 100% accuracy. Just keep the fantasy hidden islands very small.

While I'd agree, I don't find exploration content to be all that great in multiplayer titles. Usually someone finds it/figures something out, posts it, and then people just ape it to get results. How many of us actually discovered the hidden island because we were actually exploring rather than because someone told us a direction to sail / coordinates to go to?

Randomly generated (oh gee, Im probably one of few here who find RNG so much more interesting than "get anything if you're willing to grind 500 goodies to trade in for it") content could be interesting though to make the OW sailing experience more interesting.

Ship wrecks that pop up here and there without needing bottles or pop-up map warnings. Outlaw villages found on beaches that appear and disappear daily. Special trade ships sailing around with their holds laden with desirable goods and an escort to boot - so that people have to find it, follow it around, and gather the people to take it on.

Sick and tired of the heavy focus on instanced content while the OW is all but dead.

Random open sea Shipwrecks, RNG quests (find stuff) that then disappears, rock hard AI legends like teach, Nelson etc popping up and engaging you, the flying Dutchman, the kraken, mermaids, sirens, proper badass storm fronts that you have to run  from, disease in  crowded in ports (effects crew, mine production etc) to name but a few.

It may get the Port huggers out and about a bit more.

Fog of war, not really maps of the time were pretty good but added stuff why not? It's a game and if the three new nations are going to stay then it's lost its hard core historical label anyway.

Better wish that it get delayed until it has more content and polished mechanics.

Any more public delays will undoubtedly kill this game. Reviews at 61% (somewhat recovered) , announce delay and they will go down again. Releasing game with 3 start is not something you would want to do.

Public delays?

The devs havent made a public statement of the release date of the game.

And mate, think first speaking, because a rushed release could end very bad for the game and gamelabs reputation.

As far as I know they said game will be released by 2018. There are screenshots that can prove that.

I did! :P

Back then i was in TDA. I don't remember the exact story but basically i was told some "rumours" and then i set out on my journey to find "The Hidden Island".

I did a grid search trying to find it, alas after 25-30 hours i had still not found it. I gave up but had to, for a reason i don't recall, sail to Bermuda. After 45 minutes or so i got impatient and changed my course slightly, 15 minutes later i saw land. I yelled out (On TS) "I FINALLY REACHED BERMUDA!!!" (Something along those lines). When i went to find the port is when i realised; I had not found Bermuda... No, i had found something much greater! "The Hidden Island"!!!

It was glorious, but ofcourse the only reason the island was truly "hidden" back then is because only 1-2 people had found it before me, and they had mostly kept their mouth shut. It was seriously one of the greatest experiences i've had in NA OW that has nothing to do with combat. From that point on great lengths were taken to keep it a secret. And secret it was, for a few months atleast :P
