As now all 16 / 16 teams confirmed their participation, we can finally start the group stage.

Reminder: Every team is going to fight every other team in their group once - so there will be 3 battles each team has to fight.

You are given 3 weeks to fulfill your 3 groupstage battles - Until Sat., December 2nd, 22:00 ServerTime all battles must have been absolved. - There is no strict schedule for each battle, as this would most likely be impossible to plan - arrange each battle on a set date beforehand, where every participant (and a ref.) can take part.

This means you have to communicate with the other teams in your group and agree on a battle date and place. 3 Weeks should be plenty for 3 battles.

Please do NOT share your battle location and date in public - PM one of the judges @Christendom, @Cornelis Tromp, @rediii, @Liq at least 48 hours before a battle with a desired date, and we will then work out if the proposal works out for one of the refs.

REPAIRS:
The Team votes I have received resulted in a 50/50 opinion regarding repairs - Thus I have made use of a VETO vote as the organisator and set the limit to 2 Hull - 2 Rigging - 2x Rum use repairs. This should be more or less okay for both parties. (Next time, those kind of rules will be set from beginning.)
Ref will keep track of the repairs used by flying around using the freecam / Map
If you use more than the repairs allowed, your team will get NO points forthe current battle, and will be warned - on the second offense, your team will LOSE a point on the leaderbaord.

Pirate accounts to create an outlawbattle which both teams (if from the same nation, or if one team has members from different nations) will be provided.

As every team has now confirmed, the Rules and BR list are now final:

Rules

 
  • The layout for this tournament is 3v3
  • Each team will have to spread their ships to 500 BR - This means all 3 ships of one team can have a max. combined BR of 500, see the community made BR list below
  • Tournament will have a group stage and a final knockout stage - Groupstage will consist of 4 teams in one group, of which the best 2 will qualify for the knockout phase. In the groupstage, every team will fight every team once.
  • REPAIRS:

  • Entry fee of 500k per team - Prize money will be split on rank 1st, 2nd and 3rd place of the endresults (50 - 30 - 20)
  • Once the group stage goes live, the teams will be given a certain amount of time to fulfill their groupstage battles. How long this stage will last wil totally depend on how many teams are entering.
  • Groups for the group stage are going to be created using a RNG site
  • Each battle will have to have at least one referee aka. judge in them
  • Battle length is max. 60 minutes
  • Win in group stage = 3 points
  • A win can be achieved by the follwing ways:
    • Be the first to sink all enemy ships (within the 60 minutes battle length)
    • If after 60 minutes there are still ships alive on both sides, the side with 1.5x the BR is going to take the win
  • Draw in group stage = 1 point
  • A draw can be achieved by the following ways:
    • If after 60 minutes there are still ships alive on both sides, but the difference between the two teams is not equal or greater than a factor of 1.5, the battle will count as a draw
  • Loss in group stage = 0 points
  • If, after all battles in the group stage are done, some teams have the same amount of points, the second deciding factor will be how much BR they lost themselves overall in all battles. (The team with the lower BR lost will logically come first.) If this still doesnt decide the winner, a duel between each groups leader in a ship they both agree on to use will decide.
  • In the knockout stage, draws will not be possible - The team with more BR alive after 60 minutes will take the win. If the BR alive on both sides is equivalent, golden goal rules apply - first kill leads to victory
  • Not appearing to an arranged battle will result in an automatical loss - The enemy team will be granted a victory (3 points) and full BR sunk.
  • If the teams battling each other are from the same nation, they will have to join an outlaw battle in order to fight each other - Sadly this is the only possibility.

Update:

Tournament room has been brought back - Will use that one from now on (luckily there are only 2 battles done so far).

PM me when you got a date for a battle with another team and we will see which ref. can make it. :) 

Referees / Judges and their availability:

Once the groups are decided by RNG, you will have to set a date and place with each other team in your group. In order for battles to count, there needs to be at least one referee / judge inside the battle.
You will be given approximately 2 weeks to host all your groupstage battles - Plenty of time

is there a set location for where these will take place that we decide beforehand or up to the 2 teams?  I assume you'd want the judge in something like a tlynx or whatever.

Up to the teams - ship Towing should make agreeing on a place much more easy - we refs will work out a way so one of us can be there im sure :)

T-lynx is good. But if you dont have one handy it can also be another small ship

It cannot join battles, unless attacked. You might forget about it as it does not apply to PvE :rolleyes:

Sorry, it has been ages sinds I sailed one with combat in mind. I take it your ships are all with just 1 or 2 slots unlocked, as you hate pve so much? Lucky opponents for you :)

Question about repairs:

What if I bring only enough repairs to repair hull twice, but during the fight I kill someone and loot their repairs. It sounds like I wouldn't be able to use them, without breaking the rules. Is this correct? 

I personally would prefer that we can only enter the battle with enough hull/rig/rum to repair twice, and then let the battle happen. 

We could take a moment before the battle where everyone posts a screenshot of their repair tab showing 9/18 rig 9/18 hull, 100/200 rum, with the battle participants visible so we know it isn't a fake.

One problem stands: the necessary amount of repairs (hull - rig to a certain amount) depends on the wood type and the skilled repair perks/books/permas. So perhaps it's just to be part of the referees job to overview the repair count in the match? Also the amount of used rum is not constant, meaning one could use it more than twice. I vote for clear rules, considering two reps of each are the determined scope. Makes it easier - though I still would prefer free OW current game mechs.

Allow everything as controlling could reveal tactics. No offense, but some referees are still participants and therefore can't be unprejudiced after having seen a teams skills/permas.

And sink everything :) if the pvp community preaches all day ppl should get on a ship and into the OW risking to get sunk, what bad examples would we be?

would be next to impossible to determine the amount of repair units needed for each different ship (different builds affected) - So I think 2 of each repairs should be plenty - thats about 45min Cooldown time - if a team sees an enemy player repair, they could drop off a quick message in chat so we won't miss it (shouldnt happen anyway)

Everything allowed - boarding aswell

I know last tournament there was a "I'm Out, dont shoot me" rule -  But I didnt really like that one, a tournaments battles should be fought til the end :)

We can extend the group stage by 2 or so weeks so you get more times to do your battles. but  you will have to get in touch with the other teams!

Was a great battle, glad I could watch it.

At a moment I was vouching not for any of the teams but for the little ship - go Cerberus ! stick to the their wake ! - but the Ocean boys laid a nice trap and he overshot in between SeaWolf and Shelby with catastrophic results.

Watching Wolf dueling the wind versus the frigate and proving such a good defense is what is worth watching in these games and learning and try to emulate in the OW combat.

Alas the pistol and cutlass took the day.

Couldnt you  just put on smuggler tag on refs, making sure they are not same Nation as Teams

, then anyone can attack, should be able to get into your battles this way.

assuming the 2 teams are opposite nations, just have them tag and fight

if not, have 2 alts or other players tag and have the nations just join.
