please comment on the alliances with clans of foreign nations (for port battle entry rights only).

For example - you can add a clan from a foreign nation to your friend list - allowing them to help you in port battles.

Well if you were invited by both clans you will be able to join both sides. I am sure once it happens once another side will no longer add you to friends.

If a clan manages to ingratiate themselves with both sides in a war and thus are able to choose which side to enter when the battle comes and by their choice inevitably betrays one party or the other, I'd say that's a feature, not a bug. 

Alts can still sabotage PBs - if you yourself are not careful who's on your clan's friendlist or in your clan rooster. Same would be the case for clans. If you're not careful to make sure that your friends are actually your friends, then you loose.

I like it, lets test it!

One note:

If a clan is allied to two clans fighting over a port that clan can put people on both sides of the PB. Meaning they can intentionaly take up slots from the side who they want to "lose" the PB, and just sit there and do nothing.  Thats going to be a problem we better solve now.

Could lead to abuse..Foreign clan is "friendly", comes to PB, has 10 slots for example.

Then,the battle starts and they go out,maybe because other side payed more, or gave some promises......

How to "punish" such things?

Generally a good idea though, just afraid of "human factor" which might lead to unexpected things.

Not really. This idea is much better, because a thrustworthy clan can join, not the nation. Much better, in my humble opinion.

Well then that goes against the sandbox.

A big clan on your nation allies with enemy nations clan. They then let the enemy clan attack members of your nation and they join the battles on the their side to kill your players. They set max tax to all their held ports, and take your clans off friendly

They now are affectively a part of the enemy clan, they hold your nations ports, tax you out, help kill your members and there isn't much you can do about it.

I like this idea. Would it be possible to make your allied clans from other nations able to enter a port owned by your clan even if it is not available to all?

If you gave this to Pirates only but removed their ability to hold ports it would be fine?

You mean if only pirates could war other pirate clans, or only pirates can be made foreign allies to act as mercenaries for nations? No neither would really work on their own. Nations need some way to ally and friendly clans is the best way. But with allies with enemies you need enemies with allies or else you're tipping the balance of the sandbox which is never good.

Pirates need an overhaul, more than can be put into a single gameplay mechanic
