May I suggest for the Wreker-class go for the Chatham or the Admiraal de Ruyter, and the Vrijheid is a ship not a class, she is part of the Prins Maurits-class

For the Wreker-class ships u can do one before and after refit even

Two questions;

1) Why is Fama listed with the 3rd rates? She is so tiny compared to the other 3rd rates it would be so unusual to include her with the likes of the massive 74s and 80s, she is smaller than the 50 gun SoLs in the poll, HMS Leopard for example is over 2m longer and only 0.4m thinner at the waist.

Fama Sitting along side some similar sized ships:

2) Out of interest which one of the subclasses of the Téméraire-class are we voting on? That could almost make a poll on its own :D

  •     Téméraire (18 ships)
  •     Duquesne (46 ships)
  •     Danube (26 ships)
  •     Cassard (Large variant - 2 ships)
  •     Suffren (Short variant - 3 ships)
  •     Pluton (Small variant - 25 ships)

Litlle explanation from the  wikipedia: The Montañés was a 74 gun third-rate Spanish ship of the line. The name ship of her class, she was built in the Ferrol shipyards and paid for by the people of Cantabria. She was built following José Romero y Fernández de Landa's system as part of the San Ildefonso class, though her were amended by Retamosa to refine her buoyancy. She was launched in May 1794 and entered service the following year. With 2400 copper plates on her hull, she was much faster than other ships of the same era, reaching 14 (rather than the average 10) knots downwind and 10 (rather than 8) knots upwind.

In 1795 she fought a French force of 8 ships of the line (including one three-decker) and 2 frigates single-handed in the bay of San Feliu de Guíxols - thanks to her superior speed, the Montañés managed to get within range of a coastal artillery battery, forcing the French to break off the chase.

In June 1805 she was put under the command of Francisco Alcedo and made part of Alcalá Galdiano's division, defending Cadiz from a possible British attack. At the battle of Trafalgar she was assigned to the second division of Gravina's squadron. Both Alcedo and his deputy Antonio Castaños were killed (with the ship's command passing to lieutenant Joaquín Gutiérrez de Rubalcava), but overall the ship lost only 20 dead and 29 wounded and was able to recapture the Santa Ana and Neptuno after their capture by the British. The Montañés returned to Cadiz on the night of 21 October 1805.

Now commanded by José Quevedo, on 14 July 1808 the Montañés took part in the capture of the Rosily Squadron at Cadiz. She also made several voyages to the Canary Islands, Balearics and Havana before being lost in a heavy storm on 10 March 1810.

:D  They should all be in the game ! :D

In my view, there need to be priority nation ships yet :

  1. French
  2. Spanish
  3. English
  4. US
  5.  United Provinces
  6. Danes&Sweden
  7. Portuguese
  8. Italie

So i voted for the Téméraire Class that i request for long time now :)

Swedes get a ship before the Dutch get a ship. Lol what a joke

lemme make it worse. The Germans, the guys that had a rowboat for their navy, got a ship before the dutch... And now, yet again, the dutch seem to be getting what? Nothing... because ofcourse we need another french ship, because of course there are none in the game. Oh... wait...

The Dutch will get at least one ship from this.  No need to be salty :D another could be in the works.  Plus you have a couple made by community members.  You never know.  They might make it into the game ;)

Once this one is over we will have another poll with only about 10 ships left (or rather less).

And its not yet decided. Ive seen polls going all over the place during their "lifetime"

Hoping that Light frigates with 32-36 guns (and even Heavy frigates with 50-60 guns) will receive some love from the voters...

Right now, 6 out of the 8 most voted ships are 74-80 gun ones and the 2 others are a 56-gun ship and a 40-gun one.

This seems to be a frequent problem though, people always seem to lean towards the biggest ships available without much understanding of the ships themselves, I'm sure if there were some larger 2nd rates or 1st rates involved they would be taking a huge amount of votes too.

Its also not helped by the fact that the Téméraire and Montañés probably shouldn't be in the poll at all, they should already be in development or in the game. Its further made an issue by the lack of a Dutch ship in the current state, but again the Wreker is also one of the obvious choices for development and should have been put into the game already.

It all takes away from making the ship poll what it should be at least in my opinion, as an option to get some more unusual choices in that wouldn't be such obvious choices. So many of the ships here just seem like we shouldn't need be voting on them at all.

Téméraire class, because of this:

Quote

More than 100 ships of this class were built (Téméraire class), some fought for the Royal Navy, Spanish Navy, Dutch Navy and obviously, the French Navy. They were built in many famous cities like Toulon, Brest, Rochefort, Lorient, Cherbourg (France), Antwerp (Flanders), Vlissingen, Amsterdam (Netherlands), Genoa (Italy) and also Venice.
This is the most numerous class of capital ship ever built, it SHOULD be in the game.

@Fluffy Fishy : I totally agree with your analysis. There should be a poll for each class of ship and the Dev should balance the game with the class they need.

Caliber of the guns carried by the 32-36 gun frigates of this poll :

  • La Malicieuse carries 9-pdr
  • Euridice,  Niger-class, Santa Monica, Carolina and Friderichsvaern carry 12-pdr
  • Saint-Nicholas carries 24-pdr

I would have liked to see more 9-pdr light frigates in this poll as the category of 32-36 gun ships is meant to be implemented into the line-up between :

  • 9-pdr HMS Cerberus (26 guns) / La Renommée (30 guns)
  • and 9-pdr HMS Surprise (38 guns)

I know that selection for ship poll is tough to make as it is dependent on proposals from the suggestion thread.

Apparently the Vrijheid was the first built so it was picked as class name. Also the Zeven Provinciën was built along the same lines as Vrijheid and Prins Maurits.

If the breadth is 37 piedi then it should be 13m (1 piede = 0.348m, 1 foot = .3048m).
