I personally would go for the 1782 variant since timeline and the Chattam, 80 Wreker-class

One class that is still missing in this game and the list as we have it is the Temeraire class, 74 gunned 3rd rate ship of the line.

The first page has a reply that features one this class' vessels the "Redoutable" which fought broadside to broadside with HMS Victory at Trafalgar.

So now I present you the "le  Rivoli":

Beeing of the Temeraire class she was armed with:

  • 28 x 36pd long guns
  • 30 x 18pd long guns
  • 14 x 8pd long guns & 10 x 36pd carros

A crew of 690 men and 3 officers (thats not much, is it)

She has a rather unimpressive time in the french navy since she was actually captured on her very first voyage by the british.

From the thread you quote :

Le Rivoli is not a vessel of 74 of the same class as le Témeraire.

This is a 74 "small model". Another type of vessel of the 74 type Sané.

So why choosing this one ?

Cause my browser went down in front of me and I didnt feel the urge to describe her further.

Beeing a small temeraire still means she is from similar plans. dimensions scaled down and whatnot. It was described in that thread in more detail

She is definately interesting since she was build in shallow waters and helped towards the deep sea by pontons or whatever they are called.. Quite a feet to bring a 3rd rate ship of the line from a shallow port towards her destiny.

Flyff describes how she was build in venice.

@admin I am updating to post a single ship suggestion - May we suggest our choice for each category of ship?

My pick for heavy frigate 50-60 guns is Delft 54 gun ship built in 1783. IRL a 4th rate but in game would match well with the heavy frigates.

LOD 144 ft, Beam 40 ft, DOH 16 ft 1040 tons

LD 22 x 24pdr, UD 24 x 12pdr, QD&FC 8x 6 pdr

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dutch_ship_Delft_(1783

Plus there is a replica being (slowly) built in Rotterdam (Delftshaven).

Could we perhaps have a poll of all these wonderfull suggestions? Seriously I get a massive mental boner just looking at some of the plans and if I had to choose I'd just pick all of them.. A poll!

Portuguese Heavy Frigate ..==>  https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dom_Fernando_II_e_Glória

Having been launched out of the time frame (1843), she seems overpowered compared to the other 50-gun Heavy Frigate, USS Constitution, doesn't she ?

The former carried 32-pdr and 18-pdr guns while the latter 24-pdr and 12-pdr.

Le Jason is a 52-gun frigate that carries a light armament compared to say USS Constitution, as she was built in early 18-th century. But very nice looking, isn't she ?

Dutch 3rd rate would certainly be a good choice. Something like Admiraal de Ruyter (1808, Dutch 80-gun ship) as proposed on this thread. Also we should remember that she was 5th in the 2016 poll.

However, I would propose the ship that came fourth in 2016 poll and lost by less than 20 votes.

  • Venus (1783, Swedish 40-gun frigate)

Venus was built following the Bellona design by Fredrik Chapman, the first frigates to carry 24-pounder guns. She was captured by the Russians in 1789. She retained the same name in Imperial Russian service and participated in the battle of Reval and in the battle of Vyborg Bay. She was sold to the Kingdom of Naples in 1807 to avoid capture by the British. Venus and her sister ships sailed exceptionally well, doing 13-14 knots with a good wind. Pictures / 3-Decks / Wiki

Just in case the rule clarification kills off my original post suggestions in this thread the ship I most want to see created for the game, in case anyone hasn't got the message yet (which is fairly unlikely). my suggestion is Fama, she has everything you need to model her, would fit in fantastically in the game, offering something that while she is significantly more gunned than Constitution, Fama's small frame (if I understand it right how the devs calculate toughness) makes her quite a bit more vulnerable, especially to crew loss due to so many men being packed so closely together.

The main advantage of Fama is that she has huge high quality plans available in Das Erbe der Serenissima.

However, If my original post still stands I would love to see the possibility of La Harpe and Muiron make it in too although given the choice I would much prefer to see a true Venetian ship, completed by the Venetians, not a ship completed during the occupations.

I was also hoping to get something proper done for the Palma class, sadly I haven't found any plans for her yet.
