An alternative to TOW to port

All (or many) complain that:

There is little pvp

We lose too much time in boring things

The map is too big and some areas are useless. We all know that crossing a player in the middle of the Caribbean Sea, in the Gulf of Mexico or in the Atlantic is almost impossible. Encounters / clashes take place almost exclusively or under the coast or in the vicinity of the ports, making the rest of the map unnecessary.

My proposal is to introduce “collection areas” for long-distance trips off the coast at strategic points.

On the map we can add circles in which vessels in transit must enter and stay inside for 5 minutes. This ship pass in transit mode, in which you need to pick a destination to another “collection area”. The longer the journey is, the longer the time during which the ship remains in "transit" . Transit times may take a few hours to a few days (to prevent whole fleets from participating in more port battles in different days in remote map areas). When the vessel's transit time has elapsed, the vessel appears in port mode as at destination (in the collection area that was selected). Selecting the ship we are immediately transported to the ship and to the “collection area”. Then you can move in open world as always.

Benefits: Less dead time in navigation in nothingness. Greater pvp opportunities in the collection areas (hunters can browse, traders can ask to be escorted). You can move in a fleet, just select the ship together when the time has passed.

Disadvantages: Does it seem like less simulation? Continue to sail in nothing, no one prevents you!

Rules: There can be no more than one ship in this mode, if two days after the ship has arrived in the collection area the ship is not selected within the maintenace, the ship has a mutiny and must moor in a random port. We are teleported on this ship as soon as we log in.

Only my modest contribution.

Definitely a good idea: a nice way to save time and a useful tool to improve Pvp chances (considering that population is decreasing again in the past few weeks). That suggestion deserve some consideration and hopefully a fruitful debate in my opinion.

You may not agree, but obviously you did not understand the purpose of the proposal! If it is not clear I repeat it: avoid long voyages in nothing!

If you like to navigate in nothing you will be free to continue to do so.

I know already that I will spend my time better!

Thanks for your intelligent reply (i love subs).

Well such a system will make it easier for traders who are willing to put the time in OW sailing as all the hunters will be hanging out round the "warp" gates.

People would still complain about such a system, for example I am about to log off for the day and I think I will just transport some goods across the map, so I load up my trader ship and head to the "warp" area with the plan to pick it up on the other side in a few hours when I log back in, only to find before I can go into "warp" I get tagged by a hunter and have to spend the next few hours running from tags and retags even if I could get away.

Overall I dislike the idea as it concentrates everything in a few areas and means you may as well do away with OW. The beauty of OW is that it is big and the chances of being caught in the vast expanse of sea are slim, unless the hunters work out your trade route or get you at a bottleneck. The more people you have in OW the more the chances of their being more action.

The Empty sea may not be as empty.

Roughly a ninth of our captures, and not limited to merchants but also including warships put into service, since wipe was made in the "nowhere" zone dead center of the map. One of them even amidst a storm.

It is not that hunter specifically hunt. They do sweep patterns of perceived routes and will always find someone in "nowhere". Usually AFK.

With "fast travel" zones it simply opens to every "lazy hunter" and marks where to sweep and remove any need to spend time in an area, behind enemy lines, open to pvp and interception, surveying the routes, mission grounds, etc.

But that is part of the excitement, hauling your cargo in the middle of nowhere, knowing that you may come across a hostile at any moment...I am very old though...

In fact you can continue to navigate freely in nothing for hours like now, or you can choose to risk and use collection areas.

They want you to waste time, recent patch proves it right.

...(captains who logged in during last 14 days) will receive a victory mark if their nation wins the map. You must keep their numbers alive.

So, if you spent 2 weeks playing and then go on vacation or couldn't log in you loose all your hard earned rewards. Unlike other games reward you for participation and not your 'must be in game' time. 'Desperate times require desperate measures'.

I kind of like your idea.

Pros : I think it could enhance PVP since hunters from different nations might want to camp outside those areas. Seeing each others might lead them to PVP against each other.

Cons : On the other hand, it can become a huge ganking contest. Traders might not even use those teleports. The system could then be totally useless.

But I don't know. It's just my impressions.
