Player's AI fleet and Trading

AngryPanCake

Question

Hello foremasts hands,

I read in one of the threads that people interested in trade should hire AI cutters, possibly to lure away attackers from the trading ship in order to run away.

1- How do you hire them cutters and how do you create a convoy?

2- Can you create trading convoys with more than just one trading ship?

Thank you and show a leg, look alive...

Edit:

By the way, is the only way to trade using trade ships or can one start with the cutter?

At the moment you can put ships in your fleet. When engaged in a battle you can send them towards the enemy to distract them and make a run for it yourself. Although be advised, the more experienced players will hardly fall for it. Worth a try though. You dont really specifically need to go to cutters, you can put up to 2 ships in your fleet of whatever type, aslong as you have crew for it to man them.( dependable on your rank offcourse).

Currently you can only create trading convoys with other players. You can put trade vessels in your fleet, but they will not hold anything for you yet*.
* currently on the test server they have introduced the option that your AI fleet ships can carry goods aswell, which will become a convoy filled with goodies. We have to wait till it is patched on the main server and goes live.

Thank you and show a leg, look alive...

Any ship that has cargo space ( or called hold) can perform trade aspects in the game, but offcourse a trade ship has way more cargo space therefore more effective for trade purposes.
