Unanswered questions on the patch and future plans

Recommended Posts

Will there be the ability to hire or use your own ships as AI traders to do long hauls with cargo? i.e. You don't want to sail for 10hrs and you get the AI to do it between your ports while you are offline? What are your thoughts on trading distances and player sailing time to get goods together to build a ship?

I am not concerned as much with the time it takes to get goods together as the time the players spends doing nothing while sailing vast distances to do it. If the AI could do it for the player then it would release players to play the game while still being aware of losses and having to escort ships personally through dangerous waters. Perhaps even being able to spawn into the AI escorts to defend them when attacked.

I believe I remember reading that the logistics (IT wise) would make it impossible currently.  There would be a thousand ships a night sailing the oceans with player cargos.

  • Are there plans to allow players to more easily switch nations, rather than have to find a friend to migrate all their assets to and then be given these assets back once one has re-rolled?  Suggested a few times: letters of mark (a form of tax) for players to "buy" into a nation they wish to move to...

I think it should be harder.  You want to switch nations?  Leave, you get none of your stuff except what you can carry on one ship, and half your gold gets left behind.  Take away the ability to re-roll and make them marked as traitors or turncoats to the nation they left.  While I think the ability to change sides should exist, I think people do it all too much for small reason, and experience none of the loss a real traitor would have experienced.

This isn't a simple immigration, it's joining the military might of an opposing Military Force.  It's treason and should be treated as such.

I disagree, but the OP request is that we not debate in this thread.

How can we maintain alliances in-game if we can't vote for allies? When it was for two days it was a nuisance, but now that's it's going to happen for a full week it's a problem.

Why can't we set smuggler flags in allied ports?

  • Why not remove the concept of permanent upgrades and have these features be part of the ship building design and building process, instead?

If their blueprints will remain restricted, would it be possible to at least have the Santa Cecilia, Heavy Rattle, Agamemnon and Ocean AI in the OW (as with the Indefatigable and Endymion)?

Will upgrades become subject to capture?

Have we considered allowing players to select a specific resource to harvest when breaking down a ship, rather than random components (eg: fine woods)?

Have we considered building a player's captain profile?

Is there a chance that we see hold affects ship performance?

For example, a LGV without anything in her hold is super fast, but when we put things in her hold, her speed should be slower. We have the same system for cannons weight and speed but why not hold and  as well
