[PvP1] June, The British Honduras Campaign, Pirate perspective

I do see your question on green on green to light up a fireship...I don't think its the same as pirate joining on brit side and shooting brit..but I would like a 'ruling' as it were too.

There is another BAD thing that some folks do after a port battle. They stay in the result screen. Thus those that have left are locked out of the port they have won, while the pesky nobs stay in the screen....then the cargo laiden...unrepaired ships are left vulnerable to the 'vulture' squad waiting outside.

This is not good methinks. Once the port battle is over then the 'winners' should be able to enter the port irrespective of folks staying in the battle screen.

As it happened we subsequently had some of the best PvP I had all week, so no baddie there.

But really chaps...stop this....the other day we had 2 flags setup, we took one port...and ONE pirate sat in the screen...so we had to leave for the other flag...and forego our loot and NOT set the port timer.

I hereby declare this SHENANAGHINS....and will ask the Hangman at Jamaica docks to use the 'rough' hemp rope for the next set of hangings...which I believe can result in a rather nasty rash.

I think right now the only way to avoid getting caught in front of a port that has just been won is sitting in the battle for 5 minutes. You then get kicked out and the port goes into contested.

I fully agree that once the PB is over, as in, "BATTLE IS OVER" the port should open up.

I can't really tell much of the story at this point. Last night the British moved into Ruatan and kicked the Spanish out.

Today, I wasn't there as well, but from what I've heard so far the battles went from Ruatan itself all the way up to Bonacca and stretched far beyond 10-12.

I hope I'll have time to attend again these battles, so I can give a proper report.

But one thing is certain, the British are back at Honduras and ass kicking is going on left-and-right.

It is little more than desperation for Brits now....Pirate v Brits is fairly even in this area, Pirate + Spanish > Britain so its only time now..one night when our brave souls are looking after their families or some such and it will fall.

We fought to defend Ruatan twice now, both times there are more Spanish running interference in 2nd and 3rd rates supported by rattles, frigates and 4ths than there are pirates in the port.

Had to get past a Victory+ friends, then a 3rd+friends, then a Bellona+friends to get into the PB on the weekend...and then it was 3 pirates v 1 !!! until on the 30 min. mark 3 other brits made it in and 1 more pirate. We held JUST.

Then tonight it was about 12 on 11 (ended 14 on 12) but again, more Spanish outside than rats inside, in their big Spanish 2nds n 3rds with supporting ships.

And of course on Haita, Brits face French PB's being screened by Spanish, Rats and Danes !!!

The tide has turned...the Brits will have to hold fiercely in defence now until we look to the West on the fourth day (or some such unlikely miracle)

Managed to enter the port battle while there was a Spanish Trincomalee next to a pirate rattlesnake sitting just in front of the port ..

Looks like they either were looking into only one direction for late joiners or were doing some kind of siesta but they did not even raised sails while i passed less than 200 meter from them sterns

As for the PB itself i had really weird stuff happening, my ship was stuttering and drifting all around despites 60 fps and less than 60ms ping, apparently no packets loss on my side, at least not any packets loss reported to teamspeak when looking at the connection informations and details in this program. First time i see something like this .

Ship sliding when turning or doing any kind of slight movement, when raising or lowering sails, stuttering and delayed response when moving or aiming, often full broadsides completely off from what i was aiming on the screen, it started after barely 5mn into the battle and remained like this until the timer run out, was still a good fun PB and an achievement in itself to land some hits on ships past 200m under those conditions :P

I can only assume this word "Surrender" is a Spanish word...my Spanish is not so good...I will see if Google Translate can help :)

Ah yes...here is the translation :

Surrender (origin "Sorry End")  - Meaning : To no longer have your own flag or pride but instead do the bidding of thieving Pirate gits overlords

....ah I see...you are trying to recruit...

(obviously just joking around...in case there is a language barrier to my lowly whit).

See you on the Oceans sir.

I think your no-to-be-named British Captain redefined that meaning when he surrendered once again yesterday in front of Ruatan. :P

We glad fully took over his ship to send another body into battle. Alas it did not give us enough of an edge though.

June 28th, Waltz at Ruatan

Preliminaries

20160628 Ruatan 1

The morning started bright and early with a Pirate Surprise sailing in front of Ruatan.

Multiple British Cutters were about moving back and forth trying to either in or out, who could tell?

As two Pirate Renommees closed the gap, a Spanish Constitution disengaged from with a British Les Gross Ventre in tow.

Requesting an escort back to the free-port of Bonacca the Renommees turned to assist, leaving the Pirate Surprise by itself.

Hostilities were bound to erupt...

Befogging the Surprise

20160628 Ruatan 3

The British saw their chance to ensure a clear path from Ruatan and send out a cutter to keep the Surprise occupied.

However, the Pirate Surprise was allowed an easy turn away from the Brit and disengaged quickly.

Only to find himself facing three British Niagras and a Dutch Rattlesnake to boot.

The British small fleet heading to Black River quickly turned to face the Pirate Surprise.

With the addition of two British cutters, the Pirate saw no other option to once again turn around and make his escape.

Pirate Reinforcements

20160628 Ruatan 4

Mean the Pirates had not been sitting idle. One of the Renommees joined with a Trincomalee and a Constitution had made it back to Ruatan, while the other Renommee had been engaged at Bonacca.

Now it was the British who had to turn and run.

The Dutch Reconsidered

20160628 Ruatan 5

Ah, but it was not only the British who had to run. The Dutch Rattlesnake tried to make an escape to the east.

But he had no luck as he ran into an upcoming Pirate Frigate. Although joined by a British cutter, the Pirate Surprise and Renommee also managed to come into engagement range.

British Counter-play

20160628 Ruatan 6

Trying to up the ante, the British sent forth two Constitutions from Ruatan. But by now the remaining Pirate Renommee from Bonacca, together with an additional Frigate had arrived.

One Pirate Renommee and the Pirate Surprise soon would be disengaging from battle, to deal with the British next move...

"Attack" on Utila

20160628 Utila 1

One British Niagara had finished loading troops and supplies to head for Utila. As the bells rang, more British 6ths undocked at Bonacca. But quickly followed by Pirate 4ths, no British ship went anywhere.

A Pirate Mercury however had already made it to the north of Ruatan and quickly gave chase. With both in fierce battle, the Pirate Renommee and Surprise made their way to the east side of Utila.

20160628 Utila 2

Slipping through the battles, one British Mercury approached Utila for reinforcement. Spotting the Pirates he turned tail to go around the island. The Pirate Renommee, however, would not have it and quickly moved to intercept.

As the Pirate Mercury sank, the Surprise took over the assault. Joined by another two Pirate Mercuries, the British ship soon lay at the bottom of the ocean.

Going for Morro Chico

20160628 Morro 1

With battles raging everywhere, the British finally managed to regroup at Ruatan for an assault on Morro Chico.

Sailing away with 10 Constitutions, a Bellona, two Frigates, an Ingermanland and an Essex, the British were confident of a success.

Constant harassment by one Pirate Constitution, two Pirate Renommees and a Rattlesnake did little to stop the British fleet from moving onward. Until a Pirate Pavel and Spanish Constitution appeared from Morro Chico, diving straight into the British fleet.

Completely taken by surprise a British Constitution tried to turn away from the Pavel's broadside. Exposing his brown waterline, he took a full volley below it.

Before the captain realized what had happened, his ship was full of water and slowly slipped away into Davy Jones Locker.

As the Pirate Rattlesnake and Constitution also sank, the major part of the British assault fleet managed to disengage.

And Round We Go

20160628 Morro 2

But so also did the Pirate Pavel disengage and with more Pirate reinforcements coming and the day coming to a close, the deciding battle for Morro Chico was to be fought.

The Pirates on the offensive, had one Pavel, one Constitution, two Ingermanlands and two Frigates against the British seven Constitutions, two Frigates and an Essex.

As the sun came down, it become clear that Morro Chico was safe and the Pavel sailed away to port.

Aftermath

Even with Morro Chico save, the battles went on long into the night. It was only in the wee early morning hours that the Pirates once again could sip of their rum in Morro Chico.

Result

With all the battles going on it is hard to get a true tally of ships that went down on each side. The reckoning is that both sides suffered many losses.

The one thing that is know, is that the Pirates easily held their line in battle against superior British numbers. Both the foolish attack on Utila and the tenacious attack on Morro Chico were beaten off.

So at the least it would be called a marginal victory for the Pirates.

June 30th, Utila Abandoned

With the weather turned sour for yet another day, the British gathered their numbers around Bonacca.

Just the odd Pirate, with some escorts in tow, and some Spanish gave them a hitch as they sailed towards Ruatan without any real problem.

From there they mounted their assault on Utila.

With an easy approach on Utila, one Pirate Constitution escorted by a Pickle trailing far off, the British had no trouble launching their assault.

As they approached the fortress a strange sign was noticed on the large doors standing at a crack.

Gone-fishing-845x321.jpg

It just was just a matter of time to secure the fortress before the Pirates Fishermen would return, if ever.
