Weaker willed Spanish sailors actively defect as our losses grow daily, our outposts in Panama and Mexico fall uncontested, and Cuba itself lies under the dominion of two foul enemies who gleefully wish to see our Catholic brethren slaughtered and drowned. I have tried admirably to reverse our misfortunes here:

 

 

We have captured American traders and sunk those who precariously wandered closer to Habana alone,

 

 

 

Even gone so far as to reclaim our rightful lands mere minutes from La Habana, sinking naval craft out of our class with what few numbers we could muster,

 

 

But even as we reclaim these lands and poke the beast, the Americans smell blood and have no qualms overwhelming our small armada with massive numbers and impressive ships...

 

 

...they prioritize us as their primary target, even as they ignore the British and Piratas staunching their claims to the Bahamas. Every step Spain takes forward in the Caribbean, we are forced to take three steps back by those who cooperatively desire a destitute Spaniard presence here. Our critics label us as lazy or disorganized, yet never have I seen such hardened and resolute men who have stayed loyal at my side as our craftsmen starve for even basic resources and food. No, my King, instead we feed on American blood daily, and in the absence of reinforcements I have decided to take my own initiative and establish privateer contracts here in the name of España.

This is a call out to anyone on PvP2 US who thinks that the Spanish faction is dead: WE AREN'T. Spain is squashed in between two of the most populous factions on the server, and as we have continuously lost territory to many of our previous so-called "friends" on the outer fronts, our population has been forced back to La Habana. Even as our population has swelled slightly because of this, we do NOT have enough players to hold our ports effectively and make our way out of Cuba. I fully expect us to suffer the same fate as PvP1 EU's Spanish faction soon enough, unless there are those who are willing to take up our RECONQUISTA of rightful Spanish territory. We have no love for British or Americans and if you've been privy to recent server events we are still ACTIVELY fighting for ports for even the right to craft heavier ships as our port resources grow increasingly sparse around our capital.

 

Why have we not pushed these factions back? We simply lack the numbers. Our under-equipped forces (many of us are just nearing 3rd Rates as many previously high level Spanish players quit or defected due to demoralization or boredom) are something that can be transformed in time, but this post is directed at those who WANT TO HELP THE UNDERDOG in this fight. Bullsaw and myself (as well as others) are eager to assist those who wish to transfer over to Spain's waters and ACTIVELY ENGAGE IN DAILY PVP. Even those who aren't interested in switching fully but want to aid Spain's RECONQUISTA in some way or another are obliged to PM me.

P.S. I do respect our enemies as competent PvPers, so do not mistake this post as a complaint -- I want to make things more challenging for you when push comes to shove. I doubt Americans/British enjoy killing defenseless towers anymore than we do.

 

P.P.S. Many of our Spanish players speak English as well as Spanish. Don't be shy if you're like me and aren't bilingual. All are welcome.

They have been making gains again around Cuba, as a Brit actively fighting the US I applaud the Spanish navy. Let it be known that Lord Ravenburg of SOB supports your actions to establish yourselves as an honorable fighting nation.
 

I will not harrass any Spanish Vessel that does not openly seek combat. But be warned, if my commanders order it, you will see me in the front lines defending Britain and its territories.

Spain is getting more people returning as I have recently. Today we stand tested, pushed into our capitial, but fortunes change daily. How long til egos explode and facture the powerful zerg armies, how long til the zerg gets boring and clans decide to ressurection fallen nations.

If Spain wants war that is =P. They have a mutual ally against the US at this present point. Any faction which sides with the pirates will be dealt with accordingly, with all manner of remorseless steel.

Spain has no love for piratas, though we do not see black sails constantly harrying our traders, marines, and good Catholics. We understand that there has been a resurgence of pirata activity in the Bahamas, and it would seem that our enemies by coincidence are in common. The idea of cooperating with these bandits hasn't passed our strategic minds, though practicality states we are ill-positioned to aid or destroy the piratas ourselves even if we wished --- a fact I'm sure many of my peers in the Caribbean would understand. I am pleased to say, however, that the day Spain must openly ally with piratas who are notorious for having slaughtered our French friends across the sea (who have amazingly avoided spilling Spanish blood, a rarity amongst all the forces of the Caribbean) is a day in which we will no longer call ourselves Spaniards. Any perceived notion that our military actions operate in tandem with outlaws are simply vile propaganda attempts at besmirching our great nation's stubborn and stalwart reputation.

 

If for whatever reason the piratas wish to hunt Spanish blood and stack the odds further, then we would see them as no different than the rest of the hyenas masquerading as sailors in the Caribbean, laughing at us from inside their Spanish-built towers and walls claiming not to be thieves themselves.

While the battle to reclaim Cuba's shores have been certainly with difficulty, after losing our gains I'm pleased to report that we've regained Mariel. While some Spanish sailors haven't the stomach for such a war of attrition and have defected to the Dutch, those loyal to Spain continue fight for control of important resources near Habana.

It is also appreciative that there are some players who understand that for the server to be healthy in the game's current state on PvP2, a faction must be allowed certain necessities in order to achieve any modicum of resistance against a superior foe. In the future I am sure the developers will address this in a way that gives factions on the back foot a chance to recuperate, but until then I am pleased that we are being treated respectfully by opposing factions in order to make Spain as a faction more appealing to potential transfers. If the situation were reversed I would undoubtedly do the same.

It is with a great swelling pride that after considerable losses, the Spanish in the Caribbean have finally regrouped within Cuba around La Habana. Even as the Americans shamelessly steal rightful Spanish colonies left and right within the Gulf of Mexico alongside the French, what few brave Spaniards that still remain at my side have concentrated our efforts considerably. With the recapture of La Anguilla's coal mines after a constant back and forth battle, as well as Carahatas, it marks the first time España has successfully reconquered its rightful lands. This was not without extreme cost however, the Americans having regressed many of these gains in a single night, but in response we have been able to recapture them once more and set up properly timed defenses to ensure such a massive disaster does not ever occur again.

 

 

While España's armada still continues its quest to recruit more accomplished Capitáns in order to truly complete our Reconquista on a grand scale and match the more organized fleets in our theatre of war, we still meet considerable resistance against those Americans who desperately thirst for Spanish blood. The second recapture of Bahia Honda last night was a major success, with a daring plan to turn the American's towers against them as we knew we'd face considerably fierce opponents as we had before. Outgunned by the Americans' 3rd Rate and its escort with our handful of Trincomalees and Cerberus ships, the heroic efforts of Skippy Jr. and his Exceptional Marines obliterated 3rd Rate's crew, forcing Captain Chung's surrender and subsequent rescue by his companion Captain Dawkins. While the enemy's prized 3rd Rate under Dawkins's command would eventually be sunk by our brave Spanish sailors between Key West and Habana later, the battle of Bahia Honda proves once again the mettle of the stubborn Spaniard.

 

I once again beseech those who have abandoned Spain in its time of need to seek more friendly and comfortable waters: España needs you to fully realize our RECONQUISTA! Now more than ever it is time to strike while the iron is hot! Pardons will be given to those who would swear fealty to our King once again, and all else will be sunk!
