  1. Blueprints

Hey guys, New guy here. I have a few questions about BPs: I'm currently level 10 crafting and working hard to increase that. I know that there a several BPs that you will simply unlock by crafting. Others have to be found elsewhere, through breaking up ships or being lucky when crafting a ship If I break up a ship that's way above my level, will I still have the same chance of receiving the BP for that ship as players with a higher crafting level? Do current owned blueprints have any influence on the chance of a BP dropping from breaking up ships? Example: when crafting a pickle you have a high chance of receiving a Mercury BP. Does that mean that breaking up Mercuries is more likely to give a Mercury BP for me than if I didn't have a pickle BP? Theoretical example: if I break up 10 Santisimas, do I have the same chance of receiving its BP as a crafting level 50 player? Thanks for your answers!
  2. Yesterday morning (US Eastern time), while in Charleston, I crafted an Exceptional Brig, with Officer Perk set to "Gifted" . Ship successfully built, and the results panel reported that four new BPs were awarded: Mercury, NavyBrig, MortarBrig and Rattlesnake. Looked in Crafting ... Shipbuilding tab, they were not found. I thought, maybe on server reset. This morning, at 5 AM US Eastern (10 am GMT?) after full PC restart and presumably server reset, none of the new BPs found. What is happening here? And no, did not take a Screenshot, as did not expect the reported BP drop to be not registered. ~ HK ~
  3. There is some wonderful art work in these ships that the NA artists have captured nicely (imho). I was wondering which ship(s) are your favorites and why. I'll start: 1) the Bellona has captured my imaginings as a beautiful ship, the NA ship itself is very nicely done. In battle it almost seems immoral to hack to bits and sink one BUT this is war after all. This ship has nice handling vs gun balance and really nice to sail. 2) the Victory- it's just a nicely crafted ship, the looks are wonderful and for a 1st rate it still handles reasonably well. And the Guns, guns, guns... need I say more. 3) the Rattlesnake, Niagara and Mercury - are nicely made and look cool graphically. The Rattler because it's fast and low and the Merc due to it's good guns- handling balance given it's rate. 4) the Bucenture/Ingermanland, I think they look great for big ships and still hold their own in battle. Both have canons that should rate them one level higher but I'm glad they are in the rating they are. 5) the Trincomalee, a real life ship that NA has captured very nicely in game. I have crafted many and its' construction has moved up the crafting rank to 50. 6) finally the Snow, only because it started my Naval career and has lots of pebble throwers. Nicely done to all team/graphics departments for creating these wonderful works of art. Now if only I could sailing (more often) in real life it would make my day. My least favs are: Santi - a fortress doesn't need maneuverability. L'OCean - same as Santi. Indiaman/LGV - but it's for movin cargo Cap'n. Lynx - delicate and good for learning, not for battles imho. St Pavel - kinda homely looking but has strong guns and armour, to bad about the front chasers. Ships I would like to try but haven't: St Cecil, Agamemnon, and Heavy Rattler (I know it isn't out yet). Good hunting fellow Captains, Let's Splice the Main Brace soon.
  4. Current system tweak maybe ? In relation to the drop rate, Why not make this a visible % the crafter can see on his screen, and increase the % chance a little every time he crafts a triggering vessel without it dropping. Future system maybe ? Target BP research points for specific BP is known and public knowledge. Every ship crafted adds a value to a research pool held for the player and visible on his crafting screen. The pool is held for each rate. (Advanced versions crafted may add extra points especially if maxed out on upgrade slots.) Player can utilize other rate research points at reduced effect when researching a new BP. (Greater the rate difference - smaller the value) Minimum research points from a particular rate for each BP is known and public knowledge. (avoids crafting 6th rates all your career then eventually qualifying to craft a 1st rate) Practice So the player has a list of research points he's acquired for each rate of ship. The player knows how many research points he needs for a particular BP The player knows the minimum research points he needs from a specific research pool. The player selects his new target BP Minimal research points from a specific rate are allocated and the player chooses which research points he will use to complete the total either same rate or a combination of same and other rate pools. (Slider system from differing rate tally's) Player unlocks the new BP permanently Trade-able BP ? Once researched the player can produce additional Trade-able/sell-able BP that will construct 1 vessel. Seller must craft these using research points (x amount) and coins. Receiving crafter must expend suitable rate research points to use the BP for a 1 off build, but does not gain the BP unlock.(Smaller research tally required) Minimal research points from a specific rate are allocated and the player chooses which research points he will use to complete the total. (Slider system from differing rate tally's) Player crafts a 1 off ship.
  5. Just wondering if it is possible to get Pirate Frigate BPs from breaking down the ship or crafting other ships.
