  1. I dunno about that. I'm just talking about the halving of the framerate.
  2. Seems like they added ultra water, and it had automatically defaulted to that. Turning water down to high instantly bounces the framerate back up.
  3. My framerate just went from a general solid 60 a week ago to 30 now. No settings changed whatsoever.
  4. i5 - 750 ATI 5870 4gb of ram I get a good 60 fps on high with no AA on. The AA COMPLETELY destroys my framerate though. 4x puts it in the low 20's.
  5. Making things less annoying is not dumbing it down. Holding the correct elevation is really just annoying, as you invariably move your mouse slightly up and down while adjusting it from side to side. I think you people who say that being able to freeze the horizontal movement of your mouse is somehow removing a HUGE amount of skill either A. dont understand what it is we're asking or B. Thinks this is a twitch shooter. All that is being asked is to not have to keep your hand 100% stead until you fire your broadside. All that needs to be done is to reverse the functionality of the alt key. Hold alt to adjust your vertical aim, let go to free look.
  6. Found some more stuff that gives a very nice overview over the period from the british point of view:
  7. I just found this. Might be interesting: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PE1sTVJ8YA4
  8. This is exactly what i was looking for. Turning seems very different from how it works with triangular sails, where you rely on your speed to carry you past the wind so the boom can swing over and push you the rest of the way. Here you literally stop, go backwards and let the wind push you around. Very interesting.
  9. When I was younger I sailed for several years, so I thought I had a pretty good understanding of how sailing works. However, when watching videos of this game, it seems that square rigged vessels work somewhat differently, specifically that you can manually turn the sails one way or another. Does anyone know of any resources that explain how these sort of ships was handled? It would be nice to read up on this stuff before getting access.
  10. Its actually surprisingly fun. You should try guns of icarus. Not sure it would work here, but multicrew vehicles often can make a game a lot more enjoyable.
