  1. Sounds like a fantastic suite of changes. Great work, can't wait to try it out.
  2. Yes because Civil war combat was such an ocean of calm and understanding. You already have access to information and a view that every general on both sides could only have dreamed of.
  3. That's pretty much what happened on July 2 1863. I like your approach of circling round on Little Round Top from the south, using Big Round Top as a screen from the federal cannon. It certainly offers a greater chance of success than butting heads with 3 union corps in a frontal smash.
  4. With the Battle Delayed, I found that the game has a very liberal definition of what is a 'contested' objective. Try moving more troops onto objectives you already hold, I have found that can help pushing the game into agreeing that you do in fact hold all objectives, and triggers the countdown.
  5. seriously man, some of these suggestions are nitpicking on steroids.
  6. I would echo what others are saying about the artillery in that it doesn’t respond when you select another target for it to shoot at it, that is in line of sight. They just keep firing at whatever unit they think is worth their time. Placing it not so much, just put them on a hill facing the enemy. Usually works for me.
  7. If you're after sources that bring the whole battle to life, and attempt to place you, the reader, in the moment, there's a few options... The Stars in their Courses chapter from Shelby Foote's civil war is an excellent piece of work, if you want it more from a Southern perspective, while Bruce Catton's Glory Road is superb from the Union point of view. The Killer Angels is an interesting read if you don't mind a bit of historical fiction. Obviously though if you prefer a more rigorous, factual examination of the battle, than any of Pfanz, Gottfried or Coddington's books are fine for that purpose.
  8. One of the problems with simulating battles like Antietam is that it’s hard to build in balance to what was an imbalanced scenario, made even through human error and circumstances at the time. Any gamer who’s given control of the Union army at Antietam and is able to launch a co-ordinated attack should in most instances account for the Confederate forces on the field. The preponderance of numbers is simply too great. It’s a similar situation with Chancellorsville – any gamer who found themselves in Joe Hooker’s shoes prior to the moment he lost confidence in Joe Hooker on May 1st, isn’t going to make the same mistake. In order to simulate the 11th Corps being routed you’d have to start the battle with federal forces being fired into and already starting to rout, as otherwise you’d have every union player right facing and preparing. You need battles where forces are relatively evenly matched, and the players are given a fair bit of tactical flexibility – battles such as First and Second Bull Run, Stones River, as someone has mentioned – Chickamauga could be an option as well. Chattanooga perhaps? Lots of little scenarios and what-ifs that could be employed (Longstreet isn’t sent to Knoxville, Lookout Mountain is reinforced, etc ). Personally I’d love to see Shiloh. Either way though it’s a fantastic game, and very enjoyable, and I look forward to further offerings from the team.
