  1. "Give me a baby boy and I want it now!" The internet is a good thing. Before it we can only accept what we get. But something remains unchanged: This isn't our game, this is his game. When you created something, it is your wish that more people will like it, but for indie games, people do it because they like doing it. You always gotta take care of number one first. And that is the you the developer.
  2. I'm glad to hear that, and I think it makes sense. It is my believe that "kill" in the game has always meant "casualties". Perhaps a change of wording in the game? I'll give it another few tries to confirm the situation in which that happens.
  3. No, this is not a bullshit maneuver. This is called an Attack Column so effectively employed by Napoleon throughout Europe. It isn't time wasted if you have learned something. If the developer changes something everytime I loses, UGG will be a very different game. To the developers: keep it up. We trust whatever you are doing. Don't Escrow Taxes -- had an encounter with you earlier today. My heart was pumping and my hands shaking when we fought. Such good fight! Such great game!
  4. Forming a battleline is more complex than drawing a line. For example, which unit should fit into which part of the line? Should the line be homogenous with equal spacing between each units? Or should certain portion be tighter? Making such decisions is half the game. Some sort of AI is required to make such decisions and the result will not be ideal. It is a nice option to have in the game but I rather more development resource be spent in other departments.

  6. I did. I think it was a great lecture but I do not agree with the speaker's conclusion that Lee's motivation was to destroy the Army of Potomac. I pointed to that video because it provided some great insight. For example, the North's vast superiority in industry, economy, and manpower. I watched that video quite a while ago and that's what left an impression. I obviously forgot about his conclusion because I don't agree with him. What's the point of destroying yet another Union Army when you take the North's material advantage into consideration? I believe Lee's objective was to destroy the Union's will to carry on. To do that, he must win victories close to Washington DC, and cause panic and discontent in the North.
  7. The brigade is already very strong the way it is in the game. Just because it performed very well historically doesn't mean we should represent them as super humans. They were not, and should be able to be destroyed the way any other human beings can be destroyed. Flanking is devastating to any combat unit. Holding a magnifying glass over a particular unit or general would set the entire battle off-balance. What so great about this game it applies a common fighting system over the entire battle. Too many "special rules" will destroy this game. No more Total War heroics, please.
  8. "I think the aim of the battle should be to inflict as much damage on your opponent without suffering to many casualties." Not necessarily. Sometimes the aim was to drive your opponent away from the battlefield so that you can claim a victory, without suffering to many casualties. All battles are fought for political purposes: to make good headline, win popular support. By 1863, there was a great outrage against the war in the north. Lee knew he needed a couple more victories near the Union's heart, and Lincoln would have to sue for peace. Here's an Army War College lecture on that very subject:
  9. Hello, I just registered to post this suggestion: I think it is a good idea to place the hotkey for a command next to its button (at the right side of the screen). This would be a great way to familiarize players with the shortcut key which is the best way to play this game. Furthermore, there could be an option to hide the command list interface, to free up more "real estate", so as to speak. I am a table wargamer who resorted to the PC for the lack of an opponent. So far, your game is the only one I like since 1997 (Sid Meier's Gettysburg). I sincerely hope that you will have a most successful career. I have recommended this game to all my friends. And please, can we have the next game base on the Napoleonic Wars? Preferably a campaign that involves the Russians: Austerlitz, Borodino, even battles after 1812 in which the Russian played the most important part but was largely neglected by history. My number one interest is the Napoleonic period with an emphasis on the Russians. Thank you for this wonderful game!
