  1. I've voted for the 3rd option. I think that savesystems that limit the options are an unessecary frustrating and artifical way to increase the difficulty level of a game. Good games don't need that.
  2. Maybe a global storage of ammunition is the solution. Everytime a piece or a unit fires a little amount is used. This storage is carried over from day to day. That would take take of the micromangement but would also confront players with the problems the Generals faced at the real battle.
  3. Doesn't Garnett count ? Seriously pretty much everything that is written by Remise. By the time of Gettyburg both sides have learned that a cavalrycharge was futile and would end in a bloody desaster. No sane commander would have even considered it so I find the option to order it in a game about Gettysburg very odd to say the least. That and the implementation of these "Videttes" sound like they would fit more into a game about the Napoleonic Wars than in a game about the American Civil War.
  4. Good to hear some news and the involvement of new testers. Keep it up !
  5. That might be to much micromanagement. What want from a gamel like UGG is pure strategy, not babysitting units. Besides, those cars where usually guarded by units that were not engaged in the fight. If you want to create historical authenticity you would have to simulate these units as well. Which would add more to the nightmare of controlling those units.
  6. Agreed. But let's not forget that ammunition played a crucial role for the artillery before Picketts Charge on both sides. It's hard to decide, but because this game simulates the full three days ammunition should play a role imho.
  7. Simply fascinating if you are used to teh AIs of todays games. Graphics look gorgeous too, can't wait to lay my hands on this.
  8. Time to make first post then, I guess. It might be my first, but I'm a longtime lurker and read the blog since last fall. It's a very promising and beautiful looking game you're developing. I've tested several games, including Alea Jacta Est and Civil War 2 for AGEOD/Slitherine. That doesn't mean I'm only into turnbased strategy, I also play real-time tactics, of course Total War (since the very first Shogun) but also the Take Command/Scourge of War Series. Also the Civil War is one of my favorite conflicts and seeing you might wan't some testers I thought it would be a good Idea to throw my hat in the ring. I don't have the time to test it right now, as my legal-exams are around the corner but if you still need someone at the beginning of May you can count me in.
