    Repairs and Survivability Discussion

Tell me in what simulator are you are able to bring your vehicle, ship or soilder back to full health. Even in AC black flag you cant do that, Sid meirs pirates you cant do that, and they arent even simulators. repairs in this game makes zero logical sense. Tier the damage if you must for game play. limit repairs if your desperate i would even say remove repairs completely from battles. But repairs like this have no place.

because you should not be able to regrow mast after mast and rebuild your hull from zero to 100 again and again. Not only does it not make sense to be able to do that it makes combat long, tedious and boring. Combat right now is a race to see who runs out of repairs first, nevermind who is the better sailor or gunner.

    what about tiering the repairs?

    Repairs are far too powerfull

limiting repairs is half way there but youll still be able to rebuild your ship and throw masts up. I'll allow It is better than whats going on now

I am curious if anyone including devs disagrees with a tiered repair system, even just to test for a bit. I've heard what peoples own opinions are on how repairs should work but no explenation on why the tiered wouldnt work.

why would you have that for crew and not hull or rigging? full hull and sail regain is just as bad and weighting repairs doesnt make logical sense compared to limiting max repair percent, shouldnt be able to throw up mast after mast in battle.

My thought is repairs werent too heavy back in the day, they had miles of extra cords and rigging, and they were able to refit at sea. they just couldnt do so much in the middle of a battle which is why tiered damage might be the best system.

It is unfortunate you lose your mind off so easily, I am very aggressive, but all anyone has to do right now is sail away on any point. Sure you can catch them but unless your ship is 3 knots faster, you wont be able to catch up in time to stop them from rebuilding their ship.
  9. The biggest issue in combat is how much and how quickly we are able to rebuild our ships and sprout new masts(often more than once) half way through a battle. I think its especially demoralizing for new players who see all the damage they do undone. Combat is basically seeing who will run out of repairs first. Instead of removing repairs, change the damage to a tier system, I.E. once your hull or sail goes below 75% you cant repair above that, then again for 50% getting a smaller max as you go lower to represent the struggle of an increasingly damaged ship: 40%- 20%- 15% It would maintain the essence of reality while keeping it fun to play. It would also give battle sails their purpose back. On another note, when you go into rigging shock the sails should go wild instead of staying in whatever position they are in at the time as uncontrolled sails like to do as they please.

    Stern rake and damage model

It makes more sense to carry as many repairs as you want, but only be able to repair a max amount of damage, if you go under 50% you cant repair higher

I seriously doubt that, and if thats all thats keeping you here I dont see you lasting long anyway. I wasnt saying remove pvp marks i was saying remove pvp exclusive rewards, make them all combat marks and have pvp count for lots of CM. give new players a fighting chance as this game is very top heavy.
  12. I disagree. i'm behind this suggestion. however crew in AC is a bad burn. Sid Meiers pirates has far more depth and character to the crew.

Its not unlimited repairs thats the issue its how much people are able to repair. you see guys rebuilding their ship and throwing up new mast after mast. A tiered system would solve that. I disagree with you on the wind, the rng is good. If it was stagnant then that takes away a major factor of the time period.

No one is disregarding that, the root of the problem is the devs cant remove alts so they have recently killed to stop farming, which results in the problem you are facing now. I think if you took away pvp exclusive rewards it would stop people taking advantage of alts cuz you only get slightly better rewards for sinking an alt in a cutter than an AI in a brig. you could still do it but it becomes far more time consuming.

I agree with the first. I recently posted something similar to your second point. it went something like this: The mistake many players seem to make when analyzing games like this is focusing on realism, rather than capturing the essence of realism, which I think this game does very well for the most part. The biggest issue I see in the game as far as combat goes is how much and how quickly players are able to rebuild their ships (often more than once) half way through a battle. I think its especially demoralizing for new players who see all the damage they do undone. Combat is centered around who can out repair the other. Instead of removing repairs, change the damage to a tier system, I.E. once your hull or sail goes below 75% you cant repair above that, then again for 50% then 30% 15% and so on. It would maintain a bit of the essence of reality while keeping it fun to play. Also when you go into rigging shock the sails should go wild instead of staying in whatever position they are in at the time as uncontrolled sails like to do as they please.
