  1. OK so the skeptics are everywhere but this isn't for them. It's for the Devs. Yesterday June 29th I set out from Little River in my Mercury bound for Charleston and looking for trouble. The Merc was cheap, the guns cheap. I figured when lost no big deal and into the gaping maw of Charleston harbor I went. As I passed through I spotted a lone Bellona sailed by Kiamir of DD clan all by his lonesome. Hell I'm so gonna die I might as well die to a 3rd rate ship right? He vanished into a mission as I approached and a minute of approach I joined. He had just closed with the AI Connie and Essex when I entered and he instantly bolted through them, they dinged his right side armor but otherwise he was fresh and ready to rock..er..run. Well he took off and I was fortunate the spawn point had me where I could get at him in a dash. I closed the gap and he adjusted course for the run. I managed to serpentine a few times and chain his sails a bit before closing enough to rake his fresh full armor stern and remove said armor. At this point the AI are miles behind and this is important later. So I guess he decided a turn fight would be his best option and he turned into the wind to fire a broadside at me that largely missed, certainly not the effect either of us were expecting. I assume some mild panic played a role here. I raked him for a number of crew,he turned as did I and he sent another broadside for no serious effect and I again raked for more crew. This went on for maybe another 3 or 4 passes when as he turned to starboard to broadside me my own poorly aimed volley landed and bounced off his thick side armor save for one ball that hit his aft lower gun port, sparked a bright flash and rang out a metallic DANK followed by the hiss of a fire and then bells ringing out. A few more rakes ensued and he turned off Survival, his Bellona went stiff with the wind and went into fire shock. At this point I figured it was a bluff,I figured he would wait for me to hit the Brace button or turn away and that would be the window to let the timer expire. Remember those AI frigates miles away? They were a bit closer to the turning fight we were in but not close enough to tag the Ballona and again the Mercury was a throw away so what did I care if I went up with him? I kept tagging and raking. As I did so I noticed his hull slowly at first then as the fire became an inferno began to quickly burn away. Interestingly the armor didn't seem to be burning away all that much but his hull was rapidly melting. As the hull reached 0% the magazine went and the battle ended. I was left with the following: No bowsprit,no foremast, half an aft mast and a grand total of 8 crew members. My tally was: x33 hull hits,x20 sail hits,x1 cannon hit (where the end began),x1 Fire and x74 crew killed via raking and 1313 damage at 42%, 411 XP and 6 combat marks. An assist? Yeah I have a few screen shots but no Fraps,I didn't think this would happen. It's installed now though day late and a dollar short. So all of this long winded BS has to have a point right? A question? I started the fire that burned his hull down and resulted in the detonation. Why am I credited with only 1313 damage and 42%? I cannot imagine the hull of a Bellona only has 1313 hitpoints. Is the damage caused by the fire not credited to the player who started said fire? If so what about the mechanics am I failing to understand? How is this calculated? Any pointers would be appreciated.
