  1. Hi. I am new to this game and I would just like to say how brilliant it is. I am totally hooked and am spending too much time on it!! One small detail, is there any chance that we could see gun ports closed in the open world and open (as they are now) in battle? J.
  2. I would like to see closed gun ports while in the open world and open ones while in battle mode.
  3. Thanks all I have successfully recovered myself from Irons now. Fortunately when no one was near enough to give me a good pasting. it took some time and I was very vulnerable whilst I was in irons. Wind direction is Soooo important!!!
  4. I am becoming increasingly frustrated with this game. I bought it with trading and battle in mind and although trading is good, battle is just not possible. Every time I attack I go into the battle part but always the same thing happens: I start the battle facing into the wind with no sails up (no mater what I was doing as as I went into battle mode) is this normal? I can raise sail, either normal or battle sail, but my ship will not move. No matter how much sail i have I cant move. I tried putting over the rudder to starboard and to port but nothing happens. I stay put, not being able to move at all, and either I am blown out of the water or my enemy just sails away. Is this a bug? Am I doing something wrong? I feel like I have wasted my money on this game! Can anyone help?
  5. Has anyone else had this problem? As a complete novice with very little gold I was in a battle off a port that was not my home port (La Navasse). I was sunk and so I had to return to port to start again. I still had my XP and the 1000 or so gold but found myself in the port I was fighting near. I purchased a new basic cutter for zero gold but when I came to sail I couldn't as I had no outpost I couldn't afford an outpost so I was stuck. I tried logging off and on again but I was still at La Navasse. I couldn't be towed to home port either as I couldn't sail. Eventually I had to delete my persona loosing all my gold and XP to get back to my home port and start again. Edit: I have found a way out of this, Buy a Basic Cutter, destroy the guns on it and then sail. Go back to your home port and sell the cutter for zero gold and then buy another ship. This works for me and I don't have to loose all my gold and XP
  6. I have been playing this fantastic game for a day or so and I would like to see the following: 1. I like the fact that your position is not marked on the map. However I would like to see a more interactive map. I would like to be able to plot my position (where I think I am) so that I can use the protractor from a marked point. I would like to be able to take bearings on Points of land, ports etc to try to confirm my position. 2. I would like there to be a scale on the map to help dead reckoning. 3. A small point. The sail raise & lower on the basic cutter would be better if the square rigged sail was the last to be raised and the first to be lowered. In reality this sail would cause more drag than power when sailing close to the wind.
