  1. First of all thx for the new paints so far, they look great! I would love to see a "normal navy" paint, for example sicilly or checker for the pirate frigate. One more request, please keep it "historical" don't get too creative as some request... its bad enough in other games to see pink tanks or shite like that!
  2. Perspective! In some of ther former comments, it was mentioned that a perspective where you can more intuitivley see right and left, or starbord and larboard side battieries might be preferable. I totally agree, it is much easier to quickly consider in battle which side is ready or almost if you have it "right" in front of you instead of 90 degrees turned! However, as some may want to e.g. "switch off" carronades when firing long distance, I think it would be even better, if the decks where also clearly determined. So I have made some example, how I would like the guns to be shown in the future UI and hope you guys like it too. -- In case it is too comlicated to make different graphics for 4-5 classes, you could too, take the same for all vessels (the one for 1st rate) and just leave out the guns the actual vessel does not have!
  3. Another blow for the casual gamers! First of all, I like the idea with the ports and regions as well as dimplomacy. Repsoitioning of the freetowns is logical and ok too. As for the other points, I serioulsy have my doubts..... Losing capitals and total victory.... is a nice thing, however if players lose all money, ships and upgrades they have worked for so hard, that will let a lot of players leave and, if known before buying, will let many casual players not buy that game!! So i think good idea to make it possible for nations to lose, but possessions and anchievements of the individual player have to be saved!!! Mission changes..... I think this is a bad idea... it makes it really hard for new players to start the game if bunches of highranking enemy gankers just wait for them to come out of mission, or even enter into the missions! There must be a "safe" chance for casual gamers and/or beginners to learn the ships mechanics and level up!!!! My suggestion is e.g. to make missions close to starting grounds AND further into enemy direction, slightly increasing the rewards (gold as well as XP) the closer the misison one choses is to enemy terrritory! By this way all would be able to play the way they like it!!! I like to stress out again what I have mentioned before..... any online game needs players to stay alive, lots of players. The hard core guys (and I am almost one, beeing Rear Admiral by now and spending a lot of time in the game) allone can NEVER keep a game alive! You need new people buying the game, so that money keeps flowing (as server cost, maintaining, further developing etc. keep running too)!! The only way to keep many people playing and new people buying this game is to INCLUDE the casual gamers, gamers who play once or twice a week, or just an hour 3-4 days a week.... but to do so, the game must be kept playable for them too! So imho: - diffiyculties as mision only close to enemy nation - so gauranteed PvP - too high costs (e.g. for crew) - thing that almost FORCE you to join a clan make it very hard for this casual gamers! So please don't overdue it!!!! There is a lot of great things for hard core gamers and still more to come i guess, so please make the casual gamers welcome, and the game worthwile for them too!!!! I have seen many good (online)games die, just because they went "too crazy" for normal, casual gamers! I love this game, don't let it share that fate!!!!
  4. Battle ready all the time? I rerally like this game, and the feel of sailing the carribean... however, there is one thing that it lacks.... the differenciation in ships appearance between open world and battle. In the open world have the impression, as if I always sail cleared for action. Gunbs ports are always open, cannons are run out, not boats are visible.... on the other hand huge bright firery lanterns are burning in the middle of an ship to ship engangement.!!?? I really would love to see and think the games reasim would benefit from a few small adjustements on the appearance of the vessels in open world and battle. Imho it would be great if the the following adjustments in the ships apearances could be implemented: Battle: most things are fine as they are, only the lanterns should always be out, as one of the first things every ship of those days did when clearing for battle was to extinguish all fires and lanterns (with exception od some fes, exspecially secured ones in the lower ship). That there are no live or work boats is ok too, as they were mostly cast overboard (if not towed) to lower the risk of splinter injuries. Some small things however that could be done - even so they are not important but would add to the realism. There could be added some chains, which were used to secure the yardarms better than with rope only There could be nettings added which where streched across the weather deck (above the heads of the sailors) to shield them from falling parts of the rigging The hammocks could be put in the nets at the gunale and in the mast platforms, where they were placed to protect the crew and marines from musket fire etc. Add some more crew (Officers on the quarter deck, helmsmen and maybe marines - if they are equipped) Open world: Here on the other hand, the live or work boats should be visibly abord, e.g. hanging at the rear davits and/or palced on the gratings midships. Also the gun ports should be closed and the guns on the weather deck inside, so not protruding, as on the voyage cannons were fixed so that the muzzles were inside the board walls. It would be great to have some crew in the open world too, at least an officer of the watch on the quarter deck and a helmsman, as without, you always have the impression to command a ghost ship! :-) I think this diffeence and the transition from traveling to fighting vessel would add a huge bit to the realism of the game. Thanks for considering and for the good work done on a great game till now!!! Harry McHackou, Commodore
