  1. I personally feel that the proposed changes are a bit too extreme, and will have a detrimental impact not only upon PvP, but also upon player's enjoyment of the game. Realism isn't a justified reason for the harshness of the proposed changes; people tend to play these games for authenticity, not realism. If you want to change the crew system, then you should start slowly to see what impact it has. I propose the following. 1) Have two types of crew, "trained" and "untrained". Untrained crew should offer % penalty, depending on how large a portion of the crew is untrained. 2) Crew in open water is persistent. 3) Crew regenerates in the open water. Regenerated crew are untrained. Regeneration could be approximately 5%/minute in the open water. Regeneration is slowed by amount of days at sea. 4) When in a port, players may pay a fee to fully replenish their crew levels with either trained/untrained crew. Price should be automatically adjusted depending on amount of crew missing and untrained/trained crew to replace; trained crew, should naturally cost more.
  2. I would suggest that you have two options, one being a "Friendly" duel where you do not earn experience, but equally you do not lose your ship. The second should be a hostile type duel where normal PvP rewards apply, with the ability to lose your ship. Perhaps rather than having a lobby system, you should perhaps have the ability to click them in the open water and send a duel offer.
  3. Ships above 6th rate have durability that matches their rate. E.g, 5th has 5, 4th has 4, 3rd has 3, and so on.
  4. It was an interesting battle indeed, and was surprisingly close given we were rather out-classed and out-gunned. I don't really see why people need to act so immature over it though; Sure, we lost a port, a port that we defended successfully against countless Danish and Pirate onslaughts, but at the end of the day it's a game. You win some you lose some.
  5. There wasn't any timer set on Buena Vista when the server arose from maintenance yesterday. If you're certain one was set, and that someone simply didn't make a mistake, then you should make a bug report.
  6. Although off-topic, I tend to agreed with Stix's post; most of the upgrades present in the game at the moment serve either little purpose, or their bonuses are too minute to justify using. Reinforced masts certainly are one of the few upgrades in the game that are extremely useful in PvP as de-masting is a common tactic; however, I would disagree that they're overpowered or that they offer too great an advantage. Your best bet is to try and avoid being in a position where you can be easily de-masted.
  7. I'm really not entirely sure why you're so insistent on calling this routine data dump at maintenance an "API". Whilst it's certainly useful data to people who may wish to integrate it in to a reasonably accurate map system, I would still love to see a genuine API that can be used to create feature-rich external applications.
  8. I must say, I'll be mightily surprised, and impressed, if you managed to fight on a front so far away from your home waters.
  9. Please do refer to my previous post, Hound, the BR difference automatic victory ONLY applies IF you have above 2/2 when the final tower is destroyed, else the port battle shall move on to stage two. Zombie stated that "we got crash screens as we exited out", not that he crashed out on the Victory/results screen. This has nothing to do with protecting honour or a "bug", but trying to educate you on how the system works. You're perfectly free to report it as a bug, should you wish to, nothing is stopping you.
  10. The image doesn't show that you were victorious in your escapade. The image suggests that you all started leaving before the battle was officially over, and you were presented with the "BATTLE OVER" notification. Leaving before presented with the "BATTLE OVER" screen will leave enemy vessels in the battle (granting them victory by default). If you destroy the towers without having an overwhelming BR difference, then you won't automatically win the battle, you will move on to "STAGE 2".
  11. A rule doesn't need to be specifically written regarding this incident, because at the end of the day an exploit is an exploit. It really should be common sense that if you knowingly abuse an exploit, then you're liable to be punished. I personally feel that the offender should have his accounts wiped, followed by a temporary ban of a week. Should anyone else be found to abusing this mechanic, permanent bans should be issued. I don't really feel that this is something that the player-base should decide the punishment for, as everyone is likely to have their own bias and extremely varying opinions. You as developers need to show that any abuse of exploits is strictly prohibited and come down on them like a tonne of bricks.
  12. It seemed like he was attempting to ram our third rates, t'was quite an amusing sight.
  13. This is quite clearly a rather despicable thing to do, and an abuse of the in-game systems.

As many of us have recently started playing Naval Action with its push to Early Access, we have decided to publicly advertise our Teamspeak. Everyone is welcome to join regardless of in-game nation. We do have some ground rules noted in the lobby of our teamspeak. We will add additional channels and perhaps even some Naval Action specific usergroups depending on demand.
