  1. If we could get closer to true immersion I would be thrilled and shocked at the same time.
  2. Firstly I am eager to play again due to your latest decisions so i thank you. Secondly you guys are counter intuitive when it comes to capturing trade ships; to be realistic and immersive would mean they acted like the era they came from aka cowards who do not always fight to the death. But the reason they do fight to the death is because you guys do not think it is fun otherwise and are quoted as saying such. Just pointing it out because when you are nerfing realism to get people into combat quicker, you lessen the experience for others.
  3. Dude, that was a very insulting post. Like you say though, you are free to type any mixed up set of words you like.
  4. Can you guys not limit the ships you can capture please? Can you not make the A.I. buggy to simulate difficulty? (like small trade ships acting like they have 30k horse power engines and weigh 100tons when you are trying to turn them into the wind). If you think PvE needs to be punished in some way because we are not playing on PvP servers then feel free to add NPC hunter fleets, triggered when too many trade ships have been captured or what not. At least that way it still seems realistic, and not something some dude some where wants to inflict on the PvE server because they think we are not having fun.
  5. You know all you have to do is paint ai ships clownish colors, make them only give you a trading card in steam instead of a usable ship in game, and then give the players like me who craft ships control of all economy so we can funnel all the money in game into one area of our liking. I am just saying stop beating around the bush with these pansy ideas about economy at the detriment of play-ability.
  6. Or change the ship buy tab in port to ship offers according to rank, make it a reward for active service while also punishing those captains who have a lackluster/poor combat history by offering dingy and/or lesser ranked ships. My main point I guess is that people are not doing anything wrong really, but are just following natural human tendencies given the situation, and personal investment.
  7. There would be an easy solution to not wanting to lose your ships, and it has a precedence in history too. Who here does not know no captains owned their ships but instead were given ships to use in the war against other nations? If you used that ship well and exacted a favorable toll on the enemy then you get another ship, possibly bigger. Was this not the way it was done? Also the captains who did actually own their ships, traders, some privateers, share holders etc would not risk their property for very valid reasons. Here's the thing; which system is being used in naval action, and which system does the players responses to combat more accurately represent?
  8. A better question is asking whether or not you realise this is a dumbed down version of a part of a very boring history, a history that has been romanticised by people after having to deal with the shortfalls of everyday life? Content you think is boring does not really make it boring for everyone, and who says there needs to be a winner or even no winners exactly? You? How about you explaining how pvp content does not get boring because I doubt it has dawned on you that content only has value if that is something you find fun, it neither ceases to be fun nor is only made fun on the word of someone else whose definition of fun is different.
  9. I personally do not mind anything to do with mission rewards, both before and after the changes because to me it is not a priority. Enjoying the experience is the crux of it. My main beef is with some of the pvp player base being the douches they are and playing the game like it is them against everyone, win at all costs, and personal satisfaction can only be gained by the suffering of anyone in your way. This has lead to the abuse of game mechanics that preceded the content being withdrawn. Of course pvp is fun, who does not enjoy lan parties with friends/family? The only time pvp is not fun is when the weirdos who would never be invited nor welcome at a lan party infest servers, and start talking like they are what make the game great. Now some people are either thick skinned or dull witted enough to not care or notice but those of us who prefer having fun in an environment that does not foster as many douches will play on the pve server. IMO.
  10. Nope, it is this half brained idea that there is only one way to enjoy yourself, and that is at the expense of others, that brings games down. Honestly if the historic world happened the way you try and make people play it we would not be here, there were no pirates or fellow captains sitting in a chair at all docks telling captains which runs to do, which missions to accept, which crew to hire, and which ship to buy as well as any ships you hire. The only thing the servers need is an "I am jealous of all players who are not playing the way I play" button, just so we know who to ignore.
  11. I think missions need more information, in an age where spotting a sail on the horizon was a cause for much activity until you could discern friend or foe there seems to be no way to tell until you are about to swap broadsides whether or not it is something you want to spend time swapping broadsides with.
  12. Updating a comment should reset the comment date too I think, otherwise it seems nothing was updated.
  13. My suggested option was aimed at pve where there is no particular advantage over other players. No irony needed nor any contradiction found.
  14. Eventually I would like to see mini games that tie in with realism like fishing off your ship to help feed the crew, barrel shooting to help get your accuracy up after changing ships/cannons, pirate treasure maps because pirates can not be trusted to hold gold nor keep it nearby.
  15. Hi Captains! I would really like to see a few sliders that set the realism, maybe with a corresponding negative effect to experience and/or gold gained - it is not like there is no precedence for it. For example: 1. Manual sails with the current auto skipper settings gives 100% xp/gold. Have manual sails with the option of having the npc's auto skipper give a -10% to xp/gold. 2. Knowing exactly which ships you face in a mission before you begin battle 100% xp/gold, going in without using a telescope to discern # of masts, sail shapes, hull shape from the horizon or closer gives +10% xp/gold. 3. Have a set battle rank range for missions where + or - 5%? value gets a full 100% xp/gold but over or under that mark either get a + or - % in gold xp/gold. 4. This is an important one, anyone who wants to play someone else's game to the point they rant and rave about how other people should play (disregarding anyone who points out someone going against the TOS or using exploits) get -100% to xp/gold while anyone who just plays the game knowing it is full of individuals with their own style/likes/dislikes get to keep the xp/gold as it is. Semi-serious, reason being there seems to be a culture where people are envious and/or jealous of other peoples choices so they get very vocal about how THEY want YOU to play. Funny way to look at it: this is a multiplayer game not a singleplayer with many clones (all the other players) just doing what you tell them to do.
