  1. It certainly looks like an enjoyable game. I played Guns of Icarus after much of the hype had passed, and with some coordination it was a blast, but sadly the server population was already low and dropping. Although this game will draw a different sort of crowd than something like NA, I hope it turns out successful, seeing as good Age of Sail games have been few and hard to come by over the past decade. I see the developers have also started a kickstarter on August 3rd, ( https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/2000479544/blackwake-reboot/description ) and only 8 days later, they've already quadrupled their goal. Day by day, it seems like the competition in the Age of Sail game market is growing... which may not be a bad thing.
  2. I was actually thinking about this the other day. Personally I'd be in favour of this, however it would have to be very well thought out, and done properly, so that no nation had one distinct advantage over another. It would have to be little subtle traits or perks. Preferably it wouldn't be combat based perks either, like +1% extra damage or +2.5% more armour, as that would stir up a lot of controversy. At the same time, you don't want only one single trait for each nation, but instead have multiple traits catering to all aspects of the game. That would stop certain nations from being considered primarily economy focused, or others being more battle focused. However, I can see this as being something added later in development when economy and nations are in full swing, and perhaps even PVE or missions. Then there would be a lot more content to create traits from. For those not familiar with national traits, or at least examples of them, take a look at this link: http://www.civfanatics.com/civ5/civilizations In Civilization V, the national traits added a lot of depth and a whole other dimension to the game. Instead of simply choosing a country because it's your favourite (like many games), you actually have the delve deeper and think about how you want to play the game, and what traits will suit that play style.
  3. So a few months back there was a topic regarding a specific incident of the game crashing. It happened when you would tab out on the game (usually while waiting for the timer) and then try and load the game back up again. I mentioned the error, but due to it happening so rarely, I had never caught it in a screenshot.... until today! Here's the story: The timer was at roughly 40 seconds. I tabbed out (minimized game) and opened up my Chrome browser to get my music playlist going. I heard the water and the ships creaking, so I clicked the Naval Action icon to maximize it again, however nothing happened. I waited a dozen seconds and tried again. Still nothing. Third try brought up the generic "program has crashed" screen, so I chose to close the game. When I relaunched it, it brought me back into the game, where I could hear the waves and ships creaking, but all I could see was a black screen. That's when the error popped up. It then proceeded to take me back to the lobby. Hopefully something can be done about this annoying and rare error.
  4. To my knowledge, the next official time it can be purchased is when it's released on Steam. However that being said, the devs stated that if you email them and request to purchase the game, that you may be able to get in. A number of new players have joined through that way in the past week. There's a thread somewhere where the admin said stated this.
  5. When I am using the Q/E, Z/C keys, I generally hold the keys down, especially when conducting a tight turn, rather than simply clicking them once. However if the combat is not close, and fast turning isn't such of an issue, then simply clicking the keys would suffice. I would press the F key in order to return to Auto sails anywhere from 0.5 seconds to upwards of 10 seconds after releasing the Q/E, Z/C keys, depending on the urgency of the turn.
  6. Let me start by saying that this community is absolutely awesome, and I think they are doing a fantastic job at dealing with the behaviour problems that we are facing with. Personally, I've played a pretty large array of games, from Moba's and FPS's to RTS and survival games. Over the course of playing games in these games, the one thing that was always a constant was the toxic behaviour that took place in online matches. It's gotten so bad, that now it's almost a write off, and it's just accepted. When I bought this game, the very first thing I noticed was how friendly and mature this community was. During my first half a dozen matches, I don't think I saw one curse in chat, but instead just helpful critiques and shows of support. Whenever someone had a question about a game mechanic or a ship, there was always someone quick to respond, and help any way they could. Frankly, in all my years of gaming, the people that play this game the by far the best I've come across. Now that I've owned this game for almost two months and recorded my fair share of battles, I can safely say that you guys are handling the behaviour situation quite well. I've only had a handful of instances where I've met or played with someone who was being rather rude and disruptive, and to my knowledge, all of those people have been dealt with. I think that if everyone in the community currently does there part in trying to weed out the amount of rude behaviour in the game as it stands, it'll do wonders for you later when the pre-orders open up again, or when it is released on Steam. Remember guys, a little bit of self accountability can go a long way.
  7. I've had a problem with the F key as well, but not exactly what you're talking about. For me, sometimes when I'm in manual sails, I'll press the F key to switch to auto, but nothing happens. Usually on the second, or third press of the key it'll work. Not really a major problem, but It can be quite annoying during close combat to find out you're in manual sails when you were suppose to be in auto sails.
  8. My resolution is 1280 x 1024, and using full screen, not windowed.
  9. I don't have one either http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=383177867
  10. As of recently I've noticed a rather annoying bug. Generally after just starting the game, when I fire my first ranging shot, I'll hear what sounds like 6-12 cannons firing. Confused as to whether all my cannons had fired off I go 3rd person and look around, but there's no excessive amount of smoke. I glanced down at my reload counter at the bottom of the screen, but it only showed one cannon fired. I even looked back toward my teammates, but there was no smoke from their ships either. Usually this bug only happens at the very beginning of a game, or at least it's only noticeable at the the beginning. It could happen later, but due to the excessive amount of firing when combat gets close, it would be hard to tell the difference. Has this happened to anyone else?
