Now that´s a nice ship. And a beautiful plan with a useful resolution. May I ask where you got it from? All the plans from Maritiem Digital are 'just' 3000*x pixels? :)

Provincial archives, the quality of the plans there are simply amazing.Quantity is rather low, but im slowly getting into the search^^

Do you have plans on this ship?  https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dutch_ship_Delft_(1783)I heard they were going to build a replica in the Netherlands. It's looks amazing. V6DdZh6.jpg

I don't, unfortunaly. Yet the building of the replica has been in progress for quite some time now, you can always try to contact them for a copy of the plans.

Olav raises a fair point. Whilst some of the ships have been been towards the end of the 17th century, it's design mostly died at the beginning of the 18th.

This also goes for the Fluit.

However, there are quite some nice plans/ drawings:

Lovely ships, for sure!

Up to the devs to decide, isn't it ? Current time frame is... etc. (you know the following words  ;))

Besides, is design/building date that important for traders when it comes to so lovely design ?

I love those ships !!!

They can even give them a small speed buff in OW. I wouldn't snitch. :)

Don't get me wrong, i would love to have these ingame.

I personally dont care if they would be slower/weak/less maneuverable or all of the above, since i would purely sail them for their asthetics.

But (yes, here it comes) with the rejection of the 'Zeven Provincien' (1664-1694) i doubt that they are willing to accept earlier ships, even if its just by 6 years from the prefered timeframe.

As that ships is one of the most iconic dutch ones to have sailed the seas, and rejected, im afraid we wont see beauty of this kind in this game.

Anyone read this document? http://www.gahetna.nl/collectie/archief/pdf/NL-HaNA_4.MST.ead.pdf

There are a lot of Dutch ships in this document, you can use the numbers from the ships to search the database of the "Nationaal Archief".

Here is a list for example http://www.gahetna.nl/collectie/archief/ead/index/eadid/4.MST/node/c01%3A0.c02%3A0.c03%3A0./open/c01:0.c02:0.c03:0.#c01:0.c02:0.

If you want me to post individual ships just let me know, because this is quite overwhelming.

Ps. Also it is all in Dutch...

This may be in the wrong thread but are fire ships going to be added in the game as well?  These terror ships have been used all through the age of sail. In the Anglo-Dutch wars many were used and both van der Velde Jr. and Sr. painted these ships.

Presently I am reading a book "Fireship - The Terror Weapon of the Age of Sail". By Peter Kirsh.

I can definitely get the names of the British and the Dutch. David Antscherl's book 'The Royal Navy Fireship COMET of 1783 is a monograph with 6 sheets of plans.

Fireships are under debate and consideration. Thing with fireships is that they have massive damage potential, which makes them prone to being OP and meta breaking.

So, if you have some proper implementation suggestions, they are always welcome :)

Or conversely, they are useless if you implement them realistically.

Because the crew has to abandon ship a few hundred yards out, and in-game fleets have no reason to sit around at anchor. If we get complex ports with inferior fleets camping in the PBs, then fire ships will be essential.

Most definitely true.

If you look at the amount of fireships in ratio to the effective damage they caused, weren't that effective. Yet used to break formation or forcing opponents to maneuver can be an interesting play.

They would, as you say, be an interesting addition to port battles.

Attack fleets would consist of SOL(the fighting), frigs(flanking&protection mortars and troop transport), mortars(attacking forts), *troop transport*(assaulting forts), armed indiamen(carrying raided resources), fireships(break defense position).

Nice work steel, one qeustion though, could you take a look at my favorite ship, I don't have buildplans for it but, I am pretty sure the dutch scheepvaartmuseum (Naval Museum) has.

Its the: Aemilia, a Dutch 57-gun ship of the line build in 1632.

She was under personal command of Admiraal Maarten Tromp in the battle of Downs.

I hope this ship is not to old for the game .

She has pretty good armament for her age:

  • 57 guns:
  • Gundeck: 4 × 36-pounders, 11 × 24-pounders, 9 × 18-pounders
  • Upper gundeck: 3 × 18-pounders, 21 × 12-pounders
  • Quarterdeck, Forecastle & Poop deck: 9 × 6-pounders

The additional info can be found on her wikipage.

Cheers,

Bram Luijken.

(P.S. look at my profile picture for a good painting of it.)

1632? Extremely unlikey that there are plans for her. Earliest (usable) ship plans are from the 1680s or 1690s.

I have seen more ship plans from the late 80-year war ships, I know that our museums have them stored somewhere from when I was there a few years ago.  ;)
