Vander_Mitch Posted April 1, 2015 Share Posted April 1, 2015 Le Royal Louis de 1668 Le Royal Louis est un navire de ligne premier rang, de trois-ponts, embarquant au total 110 canons dont :- Première batterie : 30 canons (12 de 36 livres ainsi que 18 de 24 livres)- Deuxième batterie : 30 canons (tous de 18 livres)- Troisième batterie : 30 canons (tous de 12 livres)- Gaillards et Dunette : 20 canons (tous de 8 livres)(Pendant un certain moment il portait des cannons de 48 livres à la batterie basse mais ils ont été finalement retirés) ainsi que plus de 800 hommes.Il mesure 53m de long et son maître beau (parti la plus large du navire) et de 14m, avec un tirant d’eau de plus de 6m.La construction du navire à été lancé en 1666 au chantier naval de Toulon, et est achevé en 1668. Le chantier a été dirigé par Rodolphe Gédéon, secondé par Laurent Coulomb.Il porte comme devise « Je suis l'unique dessus l'onde et mon Roy l'est dans le monde ».Il a principalement servi en Méditerranée, comme navire amiral dans la Flotte du levant dirigé à l’époque par Abraham Duquesne. Il ne fera pas une grande carrière (1668-1690), à cause des chantiers navals français de l’époque qui manquait encore d’expérience.
