Anyone else think Cannon prices are too high?

I thought one of the ideas of getting rid of dura and ship quality for ships was to force more PVP. The problem is with how much cannons cost me now I feel like I am even more likely to be worried about losing my ship. 

Even for 6th rates the price for filling your ship with cannons can make the chance of losing it all the more worrying. The fact ships are one dura now and when I lose it I don't just lose the ship I can lose 100k+ in cannons just makes everything seem all the more stressful.

No. I happen to think they are spot on.

They are priced at about 200% mark up on base cost, or about 180 gold per LH, which seems just right for players to be able to undercut NPC prices and make a profit. If only we had spare LH to actually be able to make them.

Gold rewards are poor though, given the costs of things. And NPC ships are cheap.

To the vessel that captured them?  Or if they were sank?  I'd imagine every time :P

As for the risk being daily?  The risk has always been daily.  There is no such thing as a risk-free day ;)

Now, as far as how often it happens to individual Captains...  well, just be glad that you're not historically beached after having it happen to you once :D

That sense of fear was the whole idea behind it. 

I'm going to venture more sailors and soldiers are effected by the fear of death, maiming, or being taken prisoner then they are the cost of a cannon. I'm not advocating that the prices be lowered or raised at this point since the economy isn't even 2 days old yet. However, it will be curious to see how things shape up after a few months of play....this is when I think we will all start to get a better idea on prices and costs.

You need 500k to get started and if you sink it will cost you even more. Yeah we will see tons of pvp.:)

-Guns and Crew are overpriced. Missions don't give enough gold for starting lvls. Grind is too long, 1 dura risk is too high. 

All this simply  means, 1st establish Econ that can make you at least 1mil a week. Once that done we can pvp, without heavy income it's pointless to even go past your region and pvp.

What ever you do, don't go and hello kitty with the ECON right off the bat. Give it some time to stabilize and then evaluate making small changes. None of the knee jerk reaction stuff.

If you would play the game instead of bitching on forums day and night you would already have enough money to afford pvp in any shape or form.

One of my clan mates already made 2mil on his first day. But then again he was busy playing and missed forums altogether.

Went direct to PvP. Raiding two traders and fending off an accumulated of seven other ships yielded enough prize money for outposts setup, one of the corsairs ship fitted with guns and the clan registration. No idea where's a win button but Praying surely is helping.

Cannons are valuable things. I will cherish them and give each a name ( like they did back then ).

Did you make 2 mil/day? That's what I thought. I am criticizing content based on my gameplay from New Player's point of view and not someone who spent 2 years playing. It will take new guys  2 months before they go into pvp at this rate. On the other hand it's very good for the game as we are always getting numbers online with this long grind. You will see 500 people online with only few actually pvping, sinking and returning to play more.

Its player dependent. Those who want to PVP will find it. Some have not experienced PVP even after 2 years.

On the other hand it's very good for the game as we are always getting numbers online with this long grind. You will see 500 people online with only few actually pvping, sinking and returning to play more.
I got into PVP within first 30 mins after patch was updated. Sunk 7 cutters and got sunk twice myself.

Talking about newbs. You will just have to change your advise to them. No longer they can skip ships like it used to be. In the old days we would grind to snow and rattle and then skip Surp and Frigs like they never existed and everyone was sailing 1st rates. Now the majority will sail 6th and 5th rates as their day to day gameplay. Bigger ships will be more purpose oriented like for clan wars or massive clan caravan escort.

Sail what you can afford to lose and you will be fine :)

The patch been out for only 2 days man. You expect everyone to become a millionaire by now? lol
Give it at least a week or so and you will see plenty 5th rates PVP battles.
