A magic moment?

I had several... I remember testing neutral nation, and it was damn hard to level because my only ennemies were pirates, so i used to jump in already started fights and help nats...

So i was in my brand new Mercury, an excellent ship, and i was looking for some fights to jump in, when i found a fight 2 vs 3, fifth rate ships... I can't remember what nationalities they were, but i entered siding with the two ships... I saw that i was sided with two other players in mid fifth ships, against a player in a frigate and two AI. I quickly engaged the frigate and he turned on me at once, sending me two broadsides, and while i was trying to avoid taking a third, we collided. My mercury was already wrecked and started to sink, thus the frigate turned its attention on the two other ships.

Well, i still had my repairs, so i started repairing my hull and pumping water, and the ship became seaworthy again... That's when one of the AI engaged me. I remember perfectly it was a Renommée, and i was there, in my damaged Mercury, no repairs left, and with no other option than fighting the fast frigate. I was trying to aim at gunports, hoping i could lower its gun count, when i got lucky! I hit a gun that exploded, starting a fire onboard the Renommée. As soon as i heard the fire bell, i tried to keep a safe distance between us, and i did well, as shortly thereafter, there was a tremendous explosion. But the renommée wasn't sinking. It was devastated, had lost its masts, most of its crew, but it was still afloat. In the distance i could still see the Frigate and an AI fighting my two unknown team mates.

That's when i decided to board the Renommée. Even though it had lost a lot of crew, it still had enough to win the boarding, and i had a really hard time taking it over. But i finally succeeded. At that time, when you captured a ship, it started with repairs. I transfered to it, and started repairing it. When the fight ended, the ship was 66% hull and masts, and heading for the fight. But it ended before i could arrive, victory for my side.

I think I miss the single port capture. Multiple ports might be ok if there was a separate battle for each with a cool down in between pbs(maybe a good way to stab at the timezone issue). I definitely like only being able to capture ports within striking distance of a national port. It goes hand in hand with no tp to/from freetown.

we are considering it.

thank you everyone for the sharing. We will definitely try to take all into account when tuning old features or proposing new ones. Some of the changes are already being done.

Keep them coming. Its exciting to read this thread.

Well, i remember another magic moment, all against AI this time...

It was when AI was aggressive, and could get reinforcements when attacked by superior ships. So i was there, in a Cerberus, crossing the gulf of mexico, when i saw a couple brigs. A couple brigs weren't really dangerous for a Cerberus, so i decided to engage them. The fight started well, and i was happily finishing the first brig when something caught my attention. The ennemy had received reinforcements! Two more brigs and a Snow had entered the fight.... Dammit, i was getting ganked by AI!!!!

I was considering my options, and it was obvious i wasn't winning this fight, there were just too many ennemy ships, and especially the snow with its heavy armament. I was already firing at the second brig, when i decided to quickly finish it by rageboarding. I forced the brig into the wind, and stormed it. But during that time, the three other ships had come in gun range, and my poor Cerberus was already damaged. I started exchanging broadsides with the ennemy, and managed to sink another brig, but it was obvious i couldn't survive the last two. That's when i had an idea. I returned to the ship i had previously captured, and transfered to it! It was smaller than the Cerberus, but also in better shape. Using my new ship, i managed to engage, and sink the last brig. But the Snow was still there, and my new brig was taking too much damage.... I was starting to think i couldn't do much more.

But that's when i realized that i had already taken care of all the fast ennemy ships, and Snow was slower than the brig, but also slower than the Cerberus that was still afloat, damaged, but still able to run fast and with all its heavier and longer ranged guns. I kept firing at the snow, trying to close to the Cerberus to transfer again. And i did it! Returning to my original ship, i managed to sink the dangerous snow by staying out of its effective range.

Yeah, in those times, even the AI was into ganking.

so do you think the island/port hopping strategy is better than unlimited region capture? (where you can sail anywhere and capture anything?)
also do you think ability to capture all ports was better than capturing regions?

Taking single ports rather than the current regional model seems to me to give these benefits:

  1. increased number of port battles and thereby (I hope) more opportunity for more players to participate thus spreading joy beyond any elite group.
  2. creation of staging posts (or in modern parlance Forward Operating Bases)  on the way to a strategic location - more realistic in my view and practical given the lack of TPs now
  3. the ability to use a 'bite and hold' strategy to gradually weaken an enemy.

There will be plenty more benefits of course.

Re: the comment about being able to 'sail anywhere and capture anything'. That can still happen and nothing wrong with it. If a nation wants to risk a deep penetration into enemy territory then it is a valid strategy. If a nation prefers a slower, steady advance with island hopping - then good for them too, it's a valid strategy as well. Always good to have more than one way to skin a cat ;)

TL:DR - go back to capturing single ports rather than just capturing regional capitals (and a region is only fully captured when all ports are captured). We get more fun for more people and more strategic options.

Disclosure, I am a day one player, day one from the arena days.... But I`ve been playing much lately (the past year) mostly because well after almost two years of playing pretty much only Naval Action i moved on, but it`s always on my radar, i follow the forums daily and I plan to go back again soon.

My first magic moment was getting in that lynx the first time, and seeing the amount of the detail, then discovering that this would not be a Blackflag clone, but as close a a naval simulation of that era that we ever got. It was hard, and i was in love...

But my first real Awe moment was my first battle with heavier frigate and line ship being in only a suprise or something, Lines were drawn both slowly moving to gain an advantage... and then the flashes... I almost scream "get down".... You could tell the ennemy had fired at a distance but the crashing sounds came a few seconds laters, and then the damages.... Very few games give me that crescendo of going from relative preparedness to utterly chaos in a matter of minutes... It was satisfaying.

Im not sure i have the devotion to be a full time pvp player, but give me a "sandbox" type of single player game with this and i think it would top of my list, for ages... I may be the exception, but i would love a  SP game, where you start just a low officer and move up the ranks where many days would past without actual combat but where actions could definetly means good things for you.

1200 hours here.

Magic moments... Getting my first "real" ship, my Mercury. I felt like I was sailing a battleship, all proud and stuff... then a Santi sailed by and my jaw hit the floor.

Hitting land more or less where I intended to.... One of the most incredible things about this game was the sense of unknown, I *think* im going the right way.... getting lost at sea was one of my favorite things in the entire game, but sadly the magical GPS has completely destroyed that... please bring back that sense of adventure, it made trade runs bearable!

The first time I saw a large ship (Bellona) broadside in a battle. I was in my little Mercury, and a friendly Bellona demasted a pirate Connie in one broadside from the stern... I was completely awestruck, the thunderous sound of those big guns rolling across the water. I've always loved the smoke and flame effects, and the bass rumbling in my headphones.

My first rainstorm... at night. I was completely disoriented, and a tad bit worried. Out of sheer bad luck, an enemy frigate sailed out of the mist and gloom straight at me. The feeling of my heart dropping into my feet is one that I cannot convey to you through simple words on a forum.

Being chased by Pirates alllll the way from Florida to Charleston in my LGV full of silver, gold and lignum vitae. I made it to within sight of charleston when they finally got me. Six of them against me and my lone escort, a frigate. They quickly destroyed my buddy in his frigate, and demasted me, getting my loot. The bitter salty taste of watching my cargo sail away made me rage SO HARD I exited the game, went outside to stew and drink a beer... and started laughing, as I realized just how much it had affected me, and how attached I was to my pixel ship and cargo.

The first time I smuggled into an enemy port, an active one at that. My heart was pounding the whole time..... I sailed right past an enemy 2nd rate who appeared to be afk at the port entrance... as I sailed out, he gave chase, but I was too far ahead.

My first port battle... a 25vs25 brawl of lineships, and a mixed bag of frigates, me being one. The sight of the enemy battle line closely coordinating their turns and firing was really a sight to see, using my frigate to screen the flanks of marauding enemy frigates. The sounds of the crews on our lineships cheering after a good broadside made the hair stand up on the back of my neck..

It was at Macao when Danemark-Norge took it back from the Pirates, almost all the server was there, PB Fleets of GB, France, Sweden, Spain and Netherlands.

The Eastern and Western Alliance were facing each other, on the left side : Danemark-Norge + France + Spain and on the right side : Great Britain + Sweden + Netherlands.

All of the Pirates were in the PB or in front of the port/in a battle against many Danes.

When I attended to my first fleet action with my clan, we were intercepted by a large enemy squadron (23 vs 25 I believe, we had a single 3rd rate, 2 or 3 Constitutions and various frigates for the rest). We formed a rather tattered line and the enemy fleet tried to breach it, but we managed to keep formation and the enemy attack broke after about 30 minutes.

It may not sound much, but it was probably the most intense 30 minutes I spent in any game.

Well, let's go WAAAAAY back to Sea Trials when you everyone was sitting at the main screen waiting for people to start shouting how many captains were in the lobby. No hard limit on the amount of captains in a fight—considered it a server stress-test (which it sometimes failed, lol). The countdown stops, the battle loads, and you are hurled into the biggest, most epic battle you've seen yet.

(and you're in a lynx, getting out of the spawn without being run over by team mates and capsized is going to be your first challenge of the fight)

Shortly after Open-World launched there were only (mostly) small bands of players sailing around. The Trincomalee and Constitution were the most popular ships on the sea, with smart players running speed built Trincomalees so they could run down any enemy ship they found, while the Constitutions would come up afterwards and join the fight in-progress. The name of the game was wind, positioning, and time. And skill.

These were great times. Open world PVP battles between Frigates. Long, drawn out chases. Fear of being jumped, drove preparation, and situational awareness, to avoid being jumped. There were no guarantees. Even sailing with others, you might happen upon a larger group. That kind of sailing was exciting. Even if it often came down to endless stretches of water, without a sail on the horizon, except for A.I. ships, it was the assurance that players were out there. Hunting.

Once such occasion did occur, when three of us went sailing across the northern coast of Cuba. Hunting A.I. ships and exploring really. Half way around the northern side, we happened upon a lone wolf, a US Captain in a Constitution. Thinking he was easy prey, we gave chase. Drove us right over a rogue shoal in the middle of the sea. No land in sight for miles.... We kept thinking he had done it on purpose. He knew exactly where that shoal was and took us over it just to try and lose us.

One ship turned into three. Then it was a fight for our lives. Or rather, a chase for our lives. It took hours. No ship sunk for hours... Then, in the end, two of us were lost, while the last barely made it back to a friendly port.

This was one heck of an experience. There was an intensity to it, an excitement that very few games are capable of eliciting. Even without chaotic combat, it was exciting. Even being outmatched, and surely doomed to sink, it was exciting. And one of my "Magical Moments".

My most memorable moment has got to be our 1st time taking Somerset. No cool screenies or videos unfortunately. This was sometime in May or June 2016 I believe. It was a bit before they patched it so you could enter a port battle after your 30 second timer instead of 2 minutes. We had a group of around 10 ships plus myself. I was buying the flag and taking it over in a speed rigged rattlesnake. Even left the cannons out for a bit extra speed. My clanmates left Kidd's about 30 minutes before me. I buy flag and head out. About 15 minutes off arriving and my clanmates have 1 enemy in a Niagara named Jagd Seelen trying to head out and tag me. They keep him locked up in battle about 4 times over. I plant flag on southside of Somerset and my clanmates get into pb. My job is pretty much done. Seelen comes out of battle screen and rushes over to tag me. I run away a bit since I have no cannons, but was thinking I have nothing else to do anyways. We start rather close to each other. When battle starts I build up a little speed heading away from him so I can cross the wind. He turned toward me to give chase. I crossed the wind to head at him. He see's that and goes to cross wind too. His whistle signalling cannons have loaded blows so he stops going through the wind to line up a shot. He gets stuck in irons and is trying to maneuver out of it away from me. I pull around his far side and push him back into the wind. I board having full board setup. Capped his Niagara, sent my rattle back to port, and was able to enter the port battle since Niagara could get into deep water port battles. That day was full of win =).

So many other moments that made the game great. Like making the fastest first rate in the game. Capped 2 Santi's, a Vic, 2 Bellona's, 6 Constitutions, and a Trinc(running down a Trinc in a Santi is priceless) before losing her to Adama and Seelen up in Bermuda on the 4th of July 2016. RIP =(

One porting the Brits over drama with an agreement. All we wanted was an apology. Priceless.

Probably the most fun was rolling around with the best group of guys. BLACK became the melting pot of all different nationalities that swapped over for many different reasons. We have members that have came from all of the other nations. I mean all of them. Too many battles/port battles with guys that could win against all odds. Thanks to Koltes for the website and the awesome scrapbook of the biggest bad@sses in NA. I would love to see any other clan match the victories you see in here.

There's many including albums full of magic and laughable moments but they are probably best kept discreet and not released here publicly.

ST  - learning to fight from the best of the best and later beating them for the first time with the knowledge, vets know the name.
Early OW before EA as Sweden - going full massacre mode on anything that moved, giving pretty much everyone a reason to hate and ally against us, using Swedes as cannonfodder to inflate numbers where needed.

After that realizing we don't really need allies nor friends nor cannonfodder to survive, went pirate to have even more pvp targets (pirates was free-for-all mode back then, you could attack anyone - best option for pvpers who don't give a f about politics / disney pirate unity and just want to cut throats and see how far they can go getting away with it). Got so far that pirate vs pirate was turned off instead and safe zones implemented, lel.
Managed to go from wipe to pre ea wipe as a pirate without losing a dura and getting a lot of pew and hate along the way to proposing somekind of a survival gamemode for pirates with perma-death (how naive of me considering the direction game took upon EA release).

As EA released, was hoping some even more badass sadists than us join this game and we become the targets but never seemed to happen, OW felt watered down and everything got regulated and made sterile, even easier to survive and the whole game felt like focused on making pvers happy and safe to keep them on map ( makes sense since they make up like 80%+ of the population ).

Good times!

PS. Admin I think you accidentally made some magic alchemy in your labs and produced a wonderful skill based combat model, try not to kill it and water it down by flirting with perks/mods and whatever gear that favors the player who has more time to throw away chasing gear/xp instead of using their time more efficiently by improving themselves and their skills/awareness/learning from mistakes to become more competitive, I know gear/counter/perks is needed nowadays to equalize the playing field to keep the casuals in your game but you could be the one unique company that does not follow the stamp modern washed out formula (you once said money is not important to you :DD)

Having the numbers has always been our problem. We'll see how many come back after the wipe. I'm also interested in this nation change token and how available it is. That could keep up our history of recruiting nationally instead of just internally.

I’ve been meaning to write this for a year and decided to pull my finger out of my butt for this thread.

b7a636687f5fb9f1cab7ca792da36103.png

This story starts with @TommyShelby. He was bored and no good can ever come out of that. I had recently gotten to know him during his last days in TDA. Diplomatic relations between the Decaturs and Rakers had been difficult for a long time so we weren’t obvious bed partners. @Kaos hints at parts of the explanation to the volatile political situation in his post ;)

On the (EU) evening of wednesday march 2. 2016 tommi was a free soul with friends in any and all camps. His birds had whispered in his ear about brits PVE grinding the shit out of their newly acquired Pavels hidden away in the nook outside Port-au-Prince. Tommi sent out ravens to all the corners of the caribbean. Some of us heeded the call. @Puchu and myself represented the Rakers and the DA-NO faction, @nornica and @Salzi hoisted the black, @SeaWolf_ came with TDA and US colors flying. @Ellis and @Turpos were stuck far away with no teleport.

bdf0ab365e8522f2eb4517bfc1e60db1.png

To get into île-à-Vache (Now: Freeport moved to Navasse) those days could be messy. The Brits held that general area and reacted with a knee-jerk-role-playing reluctance to foreign presence. I should say that pretty much all factions had their special emissaries in Vache hunting the vegans so it’s quite understandable I had 14 ships chasing and tagging me inbound.

Outside Vache while we waited for SeaWolf:

0ac3ccab35e02fb69958ff1869dfe21e.png

We got everyone safe into Vache and waited a bit for the bees to settle down. Then we set out in a group to kill anything. The brits still had overwhelming numbers in the area but I suspect they hadn’t seen a multinational expedition before so they never came close.

1f9a0165ee64a10d006da7a2fc31d192.png

We decided to proceed around Tiburon towards the grazing Pavels. We saw a few smaller ships that ran to the best of their ability and didn’t expect a fight before we got to the fatties. But there he was, coming out of a grinding mission in a connie. It was an old Sea Trials buddy of ours; poor @Kaaru62Being in a slow bot-grinding ships it was easy to tag and sail up to him. I just ran alongside him putting 18lbs balls into his masts while the others weaved his stern doing the same. All his masts came down in short order, but his 24’s and carros had put my shitty frigate in a sad state. I captured his floating turret to avoid sitting in a sinking ship.

9f41edde9c4a72093b3323a657b5eeec.png

We set course for the Pavels but we had outstayed our welcome and Salzi in his scout spotted a wall of brits coming for us. @manuva85 was brit in those days and he was responsible for doom closing in on us. I forgot to ask him to join our shenanigans and I still feel bad about that.

831fd5af4434d29f37be52699e5d8a79.png

We ran.

As far as I recall SeaWolf took one for the multinational team by initiating an instance thus allowing the rest of us to slip away.

I kept kaaru’s ship in CS until it was wiped ;) Sorry, not sorry.

I miss nornica, if anyone here talks to him say hi from me. Shoutout to kaaru62, @Puchu, @Schuetzengel and all other MIA’s.

For me, the most magical of moments was the Santiago campaign with the Brits :) Every night we were up in force in our 1st rates. That moment when you bought the flag and set sail was awesome. The thrill you get once you see the banner fly that the flag has been pulled. The Spaniards gave us great fights and managed to fight us off time after time, but then this one night we succeeded and took the port. We were so ecstatic. Best feeling ever!

Sailing and protecting the flag was probably one of the most exhillarating things I can recall. I liked the element of surprise way more than we have now with these pre-set times.

I am a bit busy at the moment so don't really have time to play anymore, but I hope to be able to sail with and against you boys (and girls) in the future.

Cheers lads!

Hello Capt's and Dev's,

1128 hours in this awesome game and toooo many magic moments to list. Every time I get on here it is magic to me.

First time entering the game in my basic cutter, with absolutely NO idea what to do, and seeing the jaw dropping beauty of it. Figuring out how to make my ship work. Getting out of Charleston harbor and into the open sea and the sense of freedom it gave me. Going too far getting lost and having to find my way back. Sighting land again and finding Charleston harbor. HAHAHAH. Realizing it was after 1:00 in the morning and I did have to work that day.

The agony of getting sunk the first time, the joy of sinking my first ship. The heart pounding thrill of being chased by an enemy. The "Te Deum" moment of realizing I have escaped. The "AW Shit, now what do I do?" the first time I got tagged. The pure exhilarating fun of battling that first human opponent. Never had so much fun losing in my whole life.

Deciding I would go to Bermuda. Stopwatch on my desk to keep track of my tacking. Actually finding Bermuda! WOW. Thanking God I was in the Coast Guard and knew how to do a search pattern. Trying to get back to the mainland before bed time and realizing I wasn't going to make it. Oh well, I'll just log out at sea and see what happens. Logging back in when I woke and finding that my ship was still there, almost missed work. HAHAHAH.

This was the time before GPS and I had had enough of getting lost so I decided to sail a grid of the map so I would know where everything was and with my stopwatch be able to get where I was going. Finding the Hidden Islands and getting sunk by pirates that didn't like me finding them. Getting back out there and continuing running my grid, MUCH more carefully now. Learning to sneak. Getting into the Caribbean, without getting caught, to continue the grid. Getting into the Gulf and running the grid. Getting home without getting caught. All the "heart in mouth" moments in between. My fingers aching from clicking every sail I spotted.

The night sky. The beauty when they made land in the shallows. The birds. The storms. The thunder. The sounds. The fog, oh yes the fog, I'm from Corpus Christi, Texas (Aransas in game) and we DID have fog. Very deep fog. Sometimes this game makes me homesick. When I was a kid some friends of mine had a schooner, much like the privateer in game, and we would go sailing on it. The feeling I got, when we would cross the bar at Aransas Pass and start taking the first Gulf waves, never got old. And my time in the Coast Guard. This game brings it back in spades.

With the advent of the smuggler flag deciding to visit every port on the PvE server and doing it.

Deciding to go to the Pacific. Finding my way blocked and deciding that the people who said they went to the Pacific were pulling my leg, to be polite. My dog distracting me, wanting to be petted, upon looking up finding my ship sailing through the land. HAHAHA, would have loved to have seen the look on my face. Sailing beneath the Andes Mountains and realizing that the Dev's have even modeled them. I was awestruck to see them overhead. A storm beneath the Andes, I couldn't believe it. Popping out into the Pacific. Oh, the joy. The return home, seeing the back of Swannsborough. Popping back out into the Atlantic and knowing that I was almost home. Docking at Charleston with a sense of accomplishment I have seldom had in ANY game. Elder Scrolls games come in second. Shameless plug. Dev's, please open the Pacific so we can go there and have more to do. It is too beautiful to waste. I am going back sometime because I like it.

The first ship I crafted. The first time I sold a ship. The first time I built a Constitution. Looking through the windows and finding you had even modeled a table in it. Reaching Crafter 50, it felt like graduation.

Now "The Great Wipe" looms ahead. It's going to be a whole new game and I can't wait to see how it all sorts out. I'm going to have to learn a whole new way of crafting. It looks like it is going to be fun and more in depth, with a lot more to do. 1 dura ships, my skills will be needed. Trading is going to be different and times may be trying for a civilian merchant capt. Because of real life and my penchant for adventuring in the game I have always played as a lonewolf and that may have to come to an end. No matter how it sorts out, this I do know, I'm going to have fun and a lot more WOW moments.

Happy sailing,

EdWatchmaker

Ohøj Captains

Well, I had some difficulty picking from about 1k screenshots taken since I began playing November 2015, have 2500 hours. Ended up with 50 pics. I tried to narrow it down further and will only show a few of them! :rolleyes:

Random magical stuff:

- The feeling, when you hit land on the exact position you wanted, or even getting lost, learning to apprehend (before GPS)

- Exploration in general

- The first many PvP encounters

- Sneaking into enemy territory, hiding behind isles near ports, waiting for lonely prey or a juicy trader.

- The beauty of cannon fire in the night

- Aiding comrades in homewaters, by fending off foes

- Both being the hunter and being the hunted

- Crafting my first frigate class ship

Scenario 3; A long time ago, a handful of us got lost on our way to Pedro Cay, shallow PB. In the middle of nowhere (we didn't know where) we stumbled upon a large beauty, which we decided could aid well in the Kings service. The Captain of the Bellona fought fiercely, but in the end the ship ended in the hands of the Danes.

Scenario 6; Battle of Aves. The SLRN fleet had reputation, experience and morale due to being undefeated. The RUS/RDNN fleet had a good reputation and this battle determined the Danes brawling tactic as fit to break the British lines..

When we got closer to the enemy, they divided into two groups, which was a really bad idea.

I miss these days.

I love this game, but (almost) haven't played since  December/January, because of the night-flipping, endless conversations trying to justify these, ending in spewing salt, somehow it just ruined the fun.. player base got so low, the game just turned to night-flipping, cause only US had anything online 2 AM.. Considering the fact of only 2 Realms, and 1 of them can do this, well it just destroyed the fun. I'm happy they make dedicated servers. Progress is everything, wasting time ain't fun, sleep is needed. Looking forward to WIPE and patch and for the game to come ALIVE once more :D

I almost forgot 'The Day I Stopped Being Afraid of Renomées', when two Frogs in Rens tagged my LGV at very close range (wasn't paying attention) in OW. I managed to dodge their attacks and evade them, long enough to escape the battle, where they were greeted by fellow Brits who had come to my aid. Being able to survive two seasoned hunters in fast frigates in a battle that started with such terrible odds against me was a magical moment.

by far my favorite moment was one of the last PBs i did on pvp2

everyone from pvp2 who knows me knows im a big drinker lol and i get crazy when i drink and anti social and hateful and well like everything you could think a drunk ironworker would be

none the less, it was a 1st rate pb and i cant remember where, but it was right after i lost say 6 or 8 2nd and 1st running fireship fittings. everyone on pvp2 knew i was a total lunatic

anyway, we get to this pb and its 25 vs like 12 or 14 of us all first rates. im in our discord (vent whatever the hell we was using at the time) and was tanked. and just started screaming hello kitty this noise im fire ship fitted, and word got out in all chat int he fight

so here we have me, in a vic, (not fire ship fitted but really drunk and screaming in vent about im going to take 10 of them with me

i sai8l my ass directly into the cluster of 25 1st rates who are doing everything they can to get away from me and im just laughing and yelling getting pounded on. i mean beat like a red headed step child and solo way out by myself with the rest of the rats behind me a good ways.

I sat in the middle of that cluster of 2st rates dropping every gun i have as its coming loaded
they all turned tail and ran outside the circle and some how some way i managed to survive the horrible beat down, i mean it was a just mind numbing that i was still floating.

i turned and limped back to my team and just as they met me the nationals tried to turn around and come back and got slaughtered outside the ring

I remember, just after the ROS had been formed, going on an impromptu sail around pirate waters with Sebo, and of course getting ganked by a huge fleet. I was in a Reno, Sebo managed to escape as I drew them off, but, as I was in a Reno I managed to escape. I was then of course pulled back into battle by some that had been waiting in OW, but escaped again. The weather had turned bad and it turned into an open world chase through a storm. I finally managed to lose them and sailed back home. It was touch and go! The Ren remains one of my all time favourite ships.
