How optimized is the game, currently?

Hi,

So I purchased the game yesterday and am enjoying it. I did notice however that my fps barely gets above 24fps. Is this 'normal'? It doesn't matter if I'm in combat or just sailing in the open sandbox. Naval Action is the only game that I really have trouble with running. Fps wise that is.

My specs:

Intel i7- 6900k

64GB of ddr4 ram

2x Gtx 1080

and playing on a 3440x1440 screen. Even playing in 1080p gives me 24fps

I hope this is a problem with Naval Action, well... I say problem. I just mean that the game still needs some optimization.

If I had problems with my CPU I would get crashes or problems in other games, which I don't. I also ran the intel processor diagnostic tool, which couldn't find any problems. On Prime95 the system runs stable.

Yes I set everything on low, and AA off.

No change at all. Wether it's ultra or low, it stays 23 fps

In my TaskManager I see that the game uses 16% of my cpu. Is it possible that Naval Action can't use 8 core (or more) cpu's yet? (or ever?)

When the game is windowed, and running in the background it hits 60 fps, even above 100 without vsync. But when I click the game window to continue playing. it falls back to 23.

I'm running a very similar rig (less heavy on RAM, and only one 1080).  Also run a 1440p monitor, with a second monitor for off-screen work.  You should be chewing through the game, graphically speaking.

I hate saying to check to make sure your drivers are up to date, but, give it a look.  Make sure you're using the GTX 1080's instead of an onboard video chip.  Try unplugging a 1080 and see if it's an SLI issue.

The game is not optmized and the devs said it won't be done befor they are done with getting all the game features and the new UI in. Also i was able to run the game with about 50-60 fps one my desktop i7 with R290x and when that died with about 30 fps on the same rip with my old gtx470 on ultra (AA off) at 1920x1020. Even my Notebook (i7 with GT 650m) runs at around 20-25 fps with medium/high settungs.

Yup there may be something amiss with your rig setup.

I was getting getting 24fps with an old AMD 6990. and an intel erm i7 errr  well it's 5 years old I know that.

Just before xmas I upgraded to an MSI GTX1070 Gaming X 8mb just to play this game.

Now I get 60-75fps in battles and open world. Lowest it has gone was 45-fps in 25v25 screening battle and even then only when in a huge

Mongolian CF with some 15 other ships.

So card wise, I am very pleased with my purchase.

Odd thing is all my total war games now have a terrible FPS stuttering lag spikes to do with audio now.

So that could be an issue with driver version no or old installs not completley removed.

I've Googled umpteen so called fixes and implemented them and as yet no solution.

No biggie at the moment as all I play is naval action :P

Incidentally, do you play totalwar games and is that running fine on 1080s?

Would love to know what driver version you have if so.

Hallo,

Meine Angaben:

Intel i7- 6900k

64GB ddr4 ram

2x Gtx 1080

this is what I posted on an early thread here. I have the power on max all the time.

Most issues I have in Win10 forced updates and nVidia general updates.

If you are using a ALT via Sandboxie etc you'll need to drop down a lot to Medium Graphics etc

Just as a side note, i7 tends to perform worse than i5 for games, so for pure gaming rigs it's better to get an i5, at least for now.

Should maybe check some sources between stating something like that like this one

At the moment, an i7 7700k is in fact the best buy for gaming. The higher core count i7 from intel however, that is sometimes true due to the lower clocks. But, "i7 performing worse than i5" is simply wrong and has been for a few years now, if not from the beginning.
