You're really passionate about that ship :)

I just like drawing things, mostly as orthographic projections. I usually try to put in as much detail as I can get confirmed by historic sources.

Having said that, it would be superb if this ship would collect enough votes for it to get included into Naval Action off course :)

Cheers,

Brigand

point is:

this is another 74 ship of the line. We actually have the typical prototype of a "modern" 74 gunner. The french invented them and the brits adapted.

I would not be surprised if the plans from HMS Vanguard are the same than the plans for HMS Bellona since they are the same class of ships and build withing 17 years difference..

TBH I dont like the Bellona model too much right now. But I guess she will be finished sometime.

the devs dont want too many ships of the same kind. Not like potbs aparantly.

Maybe you look for a 2nd rate or a beautiful old 3rd rate with 64 guns.

Or you check ships for the upper end of the classification.

We have the surprise, 28 guns. a frigate, 36 guns. 44 guns constitution.

Maybe we need something in between (40 or 32 gunners)

or even a ship like the Brigantine or bigger.

I thought Vanguard was longer...Why they do not want many ships? On, the other hand, Potbs team is dumb, they could have made millions just on ships... I will pay for new ships and 100s will do too... same ship gets boring. I hope Naval Action will beat Potbs in ship quantity!~))

I like this one here very well:

A snow with 22 guns in total. It may fill the gap between Brig and Frigate.

HMS Ontario: (Added 9 January 2014)

May 1780 - Oct 1780 // 22 Guns

I give this one and Brigand's Brigantine my vote for sure ;)

My vote is to HMS Ontario as Bungee stated above; a filler to go between Brig and Frigate- and HMS Speedy. Though Brigand's own brig is of fantastic design, it seems it may already be selected by the devs to be entered into the game. So, I would like to give the little Speedy a chance. In my honest opinion, HMS Speedy's incredible historical exploits more then make it worthy to be in such a game as NA. :)

My two votes...

1. Brigands Brigantine.. If that drawing of his was a general design and not a drawing of a historical ship then I would also call it the Brigand. Not a bad name for one

2. The Ranger - My suggestion earlier. Historically significant American sloop of war, similar to a frigate with much lighter guns and all guns on one deck.

This is not another vote for me just an addition to the general discussion.

Attatched are plans for the Bomb vessel HMS Terror which served in the war of 1812 and participated in the bombardment of Fort McHenry which inspired America's national anthem.

326-340 tons

2 mortars 13" and 10"

Had double planked hulls and double planked deck. Stats of this boat in game should reflect the durability of the ship. In the mid 1800s the ship was recomissioned to explore Antartica due to the stregnth of its hull. An antarctic volcano is named after the ship which discovered it.

legnth 102', 27' beam, 22.5' draught.

If you look this boat up dont be thrown off by the steam engine... That was installed after it was recomissioned for the exploration duties. The original boat was not steam powered.

Also, according to the web, Bomb vessels were really expensive to build. The game should reflect that.

Ive got more pics if needed

Just to mention:

I can provide you with dozent of plans from "architectura Navalis Merchatoria" I own this book if there is some copyright issue when getting data in the internet.

this webside has quite a lot of the ships displayed in this book:

http://www.sjohistoriska.se/en/Collections/Archives/ChapmanNet/ChapmanNet/Drawings/

The gif shows the datasheet of the very first bookpage. It contains lengths, cannon numbers planned, waterline, draft etc..

Awesome book - and yes we have it.

We would love to hear what 2 ships you guys want so we pick 3 overall favorites, as we cannot do all of them at the same time.

Though this isn't my current vote, it would be damned disappointing if she didn't make it into this game sooner or later, especially as she's a little Rusky. :)

This little ship and her valiant crew pulled off one of (in my opinion) the most spectacular feats ever recorded in naval warfare. Chased down by a Turkish fleet of six ships of the line, two frigates, and a couple of corvettes just off the Strait of Bosphorus, the little Russian Brig Mercury went toe-to-toe with two of the best the Turkish had to offer. Mercury was soon caught up to by two of the Turks; the Selimie of one hundred and eight guns, and the Real-Bai of seventy-four - and sandwiched between the two. Across the water wafted a Turkish voice calling out to the Mercury's crew, ordering them to drop canvas and surrender. The Russian crew responded with a mighty cheer followed by both broadsides and a volley from every pistol and musket aboard. The engagement that followed saw the Mercury expertly outmaneuver, disable and eventually escape both line of battle ships, before the rest of the Turkish fleet could arrive.

Mercury: Brig

20 guns > 18 24's + 2 8 long chasers

1820-1857

HMS Conqueror                 (1855, 78-gun Ship)

HMS Revenge                 (1860, 91-gun, screw powered!)

So, that leaves us with the choice of 54 vessels: 1 bomb ketch, 2 brigs, 3 brig-sloops, 1 brigantine, 8 frigates, 1 galleass, 1 galleon, 1 jackass-brig, 1 naval sloop, 2 (topsail) schooners, 32 ships and 1 snow. This wide selection of suggested vessels have been launched.between 1535 and 1860.

I like ships in the period 1730 - 1760 most, but I would also like to see as large a variation in types of vessels.

First vote would absolutely go the the brigantine Vilaine (who would have guessed). But I got the impression admin said it will be added to the game in spring?

So (other than the Brigantine), based on period alone, I would pick HMS Greyhound, but HMS Ontario is a Snow, so it is a better choice.

For the second choice I would like to see one of the Niger-class Frigates (HMS Stag for example) because it fits nicely between the USS Constitution and the HMS Surprise.

Cheers,

Brigand
