Let's be honest, this game is done. It's a niche market and the large majority of previous players simply won't be interested in coming back after such a long wait (which as far as I can tell looks set to continue for another X months).

There is no way to enforce balancing. Other than literally force-moving players from the largest faction to underpopulated ones by dev-control. And that isn't going to earn them any favours, as likely than not people won't want to leave the factions which have the best chance at winning. It's not like this is a new issue for multiplayer RvR games. The idea of working together for the benefit of the server(s) is a nice notion, but it'll fall through once people settle into whichever opposing factions are the "main" contenders for RvR conflict. Redistribution of resources around the map would be nice were it more centralised to faction capitals, but that then led to people camping said capitals i.e around Jamaica without going (or needing to) anywhere else. Rock and hard place.

Population will always be unbalanced in favour of GB. It's an age of sail game, of course, people will want to join the dominant historical figure of said time period. Doesn't matter anyway, as with the sheer apathy people have now towards Naval Action makes me expect the post-wipe game to be essentially DOA.

How about this then. Eastern Alliance hello kitty off to EU, Western Alliance stay on Global w/ additional players coming from PvP2. Predictions? PVPEU: France gets steamrolled by Danes and/or Sweden and decides to cry about it until eventually whimpering back to Global. Spain sits on the other side of the map, most likely untouched by the majority of RvR fighting simply because of time/distance constraints if nothing else. GB/US/Dutch are not even worth mentioning as playable factions, and Pirates fall somewhere between remaining irrelevant and a general annoyance. After this goes on for a few weeks/couple of months*, the Danes and/or Sweden come crawling back to Global due to lack of worthwhile action outside of seal-clubbing the French/anyone else who decides to play on PVPEU. PVPGlobal: Western Alliance players separate themselves into whichever nations take their fancy- though with alliances being turned off most likely you will see a three-way split between major RvR contenders of GB/US/Pirates. Smaller factions will, inevitably, be steamrolled by larger nations due to sheer number attrition. After due time, conflict settles in between the three main factions and carries on as per expectations just like the Eastern/Western conflict of PvP1. *How long it takes to break the mentality of PVPEU-players once they are being curb-stomped is still up for debate.

Can we not just get the wipe and hello kitty off to our respective servers. Until then, there is 0 reason to continue playing the game. As has been obviously noted by the large majority of the PVP1 playerbase if activity numbers are anything to go on.

Tl;dr better if everyone hello kittys off to their own individual respective servers. I'm just going to watch and wait until the salt starts spreading between Eastern Alliance factions. Don't be naive and presume it won't happen.

But gents, you have to realise. I don't particularly care about RvR anymore. If we won't be needing regions for the bonuses anymore, and can ship them out like any commodity- it's back to fortress Jamaica for me and my lot. Besides. If there's more late-night RvR fighting there's more chances of me finding OW combat in the screening fleet. Which is all I really care for nowadays. Plus! It'll be nice to have a fresh start after so long. ^ @ Intrepido @ Aegir Believe me, I don't. I'm simply curious to know what reasons you lot think there are for Western Alliance players to switch to PvP EU/whatever it will be called. What I hope to see is that people stop giving a damn about ports in general, and just want to have the fight associated with them. Preferably in friendly conditions, where there isn't a lose-and-be-hello kittyed attitude like we have with the Danes/Russians.

So in other words the Eastern Alliance are going to go to the EU server. Ok. And what makes you think anyone that is in the Western Alliance is going to follow you? Majority hello kittying hate you, regardless of which particular nation. I speak as an EU player, and I sure as hell won't be switching. Legit question. ^

My point stands, Alado. To play Naval Action now, at least the RvR aspect, for the majority of mainstream Western Alliance players is a chore. There's no incentive to play until the devs go ahead with the server wipes/changes/merges/call it what you will.

Doesn't matter now. Damage has been done. Devs have shown they favour EU Eastern Alliance players over the rest of the server, so the large majority of people I play with in the West have more or less decided to stop playing and switch to other games.

I'll put it this way Bearwall. The majority of the Western Alliance aren't even playing the damned game. And why should they? Until the server merge/divide hopefully/might happen there is no real point in playing. Same shit different day. If people on the eastern alliance can't hack losing ports when they aren't online, too bloody bad. Nightflips aren't the reason people quit the game. Boredum is. Stagnation is. Lack of content is. Lack of OW activity is. RvR is stale as shit and thus even the hardcore players are 99% of the time dreading to even come on to defend/attack ports.

Mind you, might be a great idea for the servers to be split simply so the eastern alliance does their own shit on the EU one, and the western alliance is left on global. Might actually end up breeding something other than outright hatred for the opposing side, with time. P.S. See, I can make comments that aren't just ban-worthy.
