  1. Last night in a fleet battle our leader was shown as escaped on entry and a message box was shown that I had left the group. It had an X to close in the corner but here was no way I could see to get focus to the box to close it. The box was right in the middle of the screen right where you would aim at a ship. Consequently I was helpless until the box disappeared.
  2. PVE perspective: Fleet battles need repairs for line ships, particularly when things go a little wrong like last night. ( Leader shown as escaped on entry and message shown we had all left the group) Lineships cannot escape when they are surrounded by enemies. In this case I sailed at best point pursued by four 3rd rates and Bellonas. I prevailed by stretching them out and eliminating them one by one but yes, a few repairs were required. I would have been in trouble without them. And urgent repairs were used a few times too. Please don’t limit them to one.

    Patch day?

The implementation delay might be worth it. "Steady as she goes" rather than "Everything at once" might mean a better experience all round, including for the devs.
  4. And the question of the day is when will it be released? Are we looking at two wipes close together? Six months apart? It makes a huge difference as to whether to play or not play following the ship wipe.
  5. When sailing a second rate, I think running from a heap of first rates is good sound practice. Admit it, most of your fleet were SOL with plenty of first rates vs the US with a much more mixed fleet. Number of players alone does not paint the picture. You must also admit from your own description that pirates are acting more as a nation with huge fleets rather than the more traditional raiding pirate. What are you? Pirate or rogue state? Moreover when I went in there were few pirates left outside. I watched you mostly "blink out" of OW before I even entered the PB, allowing me straight entry. The US fleet gathered outside after the PB and sailed North. You guys reappeared and came up behind. What you can't get away from is you use all the available mechanics to promote ambush while whinging outrageously at any mechanics that protect ships near their own home waters. It's hypocrisy.
  6. It wasn't a picture I saw. I watched it happen. It was a screening fleet protecting a Spanish port for a port battle. First, second and third rates with a sprinkling of connies and trincos. It was pretty impressive. And yes they disappeared (maybe logged off....I don't know) then reappeared behind the USA fleet and caught some ships...stragglers I think, as you said. Then the free port switch and squash...where they have a lone pirate out the front. Attack him and you are gone. I saw the SOL gank squad appear for that too. The think I am saying is it is well and good for them to complain about game mechanics e.g. large fleets in USA territorial waters when they use other game mechanics to ambush people. It's a bit rich.
  7. On PVE you would not be able to trade at all without it. You could do without it only if the ability to trade with other national ports was on by default.
  8. C'mon. I have seen the pirate's SOL gank squad at work. You wonder why no one will go near a pirate? It's because you never know how many pirates are actually there. Then you complain about game mechanics others used to defend themselves from your own gank squads whilst happily using whatever mechanics you can use to ambush others in force. I was on PVP2 just trying it out and actually starting to enjoy the challenge of rebuilding my financial and crafting position but this patch has done it for me. I can't even craft a frigate now. I found your enormous gank squad both awe inspiring and also a PVP motivational killer. Your navy is bigger than the US navy and you wonder why they avoid you. Sorry, the sheer hypocrisy is just too much not to say something.
  9. Well at least you will get plenty of dead fish.......
  10. Three crashes in a row from PVE server. It then allows login back into the shard directly. One crash was in a battle. The good news is after the crash it returned me to the battle. Whew.... There was a slight bug on return. Open world chat box was up covering compass and sail direction. You could just see through it. Everything worked though.
  11. I like the idea but I suspect programming wind as a variable as you propose would be quite a bit of programming,. I knew an atmospheric physicist once. He used the massive computing power only available to government to write equations for clouds. Perhaps the devs can find a happy medium somewhere. Certainly the current system is a bit unrealistic and a bit annoying. If the wind kept rotating like that at the speed it does, in real life it would be at hurricane force lol.
  12. I found a ranging shot per gun deck helped resolve the issue.
  13. I have had this more than once. They eventually set sail. Perhaps they think they are just reinforcements......
  14. Sigh......this time....fleet battle...sails got stuck. F was inactive, Q,E, Z, C no effect. Guns operational, rudder operational, no dropped packets in case you ask. I managed to turn so wind suited sail position, successfully sailed off and exited battle normally. The wear and tear damage on my gnashed teeth is severe. Getting a bit tired of bugged battles here. Oh, and reported. Correction F did go between manual and auto sails but the sails did not....only the label.
