Puerto Plata PB: Very good attack from USA, congrats gents !! Spanish had to deal with one of these "bad days" that happen from time to time... We came to help our allies, we fought and we failed...sorry Danes for losing this region. Anyway, it was an honor to fight for our allies and to fight against the determined USA fleet.

I’m quite new and not yet skilled in PVP, but I’m enthusiastic. I almost wish I had never found these forums because the politics stuff is disgusting. It might be better to be just a citizen victim of these behind-the-scenes shenanigans. (I guess we do simulate real life.) Both sides have made accusations and claim unfairness and duplicity in the past. Get over it! (And I’m talking to my fellow Dutch as well.) All is fair in love and war. Rolling to one port is fair. Attacking someone while they are distracted elsewhere is fair. Attacking in the middle of the enemy’s night is fair. Being unwilling or unable to follow through on an agreement is fair. Giving conquered territories back to some enemies while not doing the same to others is fair. Outnumbering someone is fair. Being more skilled is fair. Having more or stronger allies is fair. Having your allies or countrymen help you tremendously or let you down is fair. Attacking weaker nations is fair. Not defending an asset or showing up with overwhelming force is fair. Destroying an enemy while they are weakened is fair. In fact, it would be “fair” for a nation or alliance to use every possible advantage to achieve the total destruction of the enemy. It is only the fact that there is no end-game -- no ultimate winner and loser – that keeps this from happening. We also all probably know that winning in that scenario would actually be losing because we would no longer have fun. Many of us question how these various actions affect other players or whether they are good for the game long-term. We seem unable to come to an agreement on who’s responsibility it is to do what to improve the game and “save the server.” My opinion is it is not the responsibility of any of us to save the server or rescue any nation. We all paid our money and should play the game in a way that is most enjoyable to us. Many of us seek like-minded individuals with which join in clans and nations to add to our enjoyment. When those clans or nations no longer represent shared ideals, we can make a change. Unfortunately I’m away from my gaming rig, and therefore away from the game for almost the next month. If when I return there are no Dutch ports to return to, I’ll deal with it by continuing to try to improve so that I can help my nation regain some glory. Fair winds and a fun game TO ALL.

Why can't we go to a system where every ship, including the basic cutter only has 1 durability? Make all upgrades craftable and make all ships 1 durability. That way when you capture someone's ship or sink it, you actually did it!!! It will also make the economy more dynamic and alive with the demand for ships going crazy. A lot of players that just like to trade and craft, will actually be necessary and not just labeled carebears! I also think it would bring some excitement to fights. Maybe I'm crazy but I think it would be a good thing

In Holland where a large colony of Portuguese existed, many of them dedicated themselves to piracy and privateering against the Spaniards. After the restoration of Independence in 1640, Portugal was involved in a long war with Spain that only ended in 1668. During this period, the number of Portuguese pirates and privateers increased, but as support to other nations who were raiding the Spanish colonies. It was an inexpensive way to wage war at sea. In 1645, the Spanish ambassador in London informed Philip IV that a pirate expedition had been very successful in the Caribbean because of the participation of Portuguese sailors. We know he was shipwrecked in the Gardens of the Queen (Cuba), but managed to get to Jamaica very injured. He then went on to other expeditions whose results we ignored. Part of his exploits were published in Holland in 1678 in John Esquemeling's The Buccaneers of America. Rocha, the Brazilian (Roche or Brasilian Rock). (C.1630-c.1675). Some historians claim to be a connected Dutchman for reasons unknown to Brazil. In 1670 he attacked Campeche. He was a true psychopath, he had a hatred of death for the Spaniards, subjecting them to the worst barbarities. The attacks of pirates and corsairs on the coasts of Portugal and its colonies only diminished when the Portuguese navy was rebuilt and an efficient system of fortifications was erected. Peace with Holland (Treaty of The Hague, 1661) and the re-launching of the Alliance with England led to the diminution of the pirates of these countries. The main threat continued to be that of the Muslim pirates, but also of the French who had specialized in the looting. The English corsairs had in Portugal a base of strategic support to assault the Spanish and French ships. In Lisbon they supplied provisions and sold the product of the looting. I don't think you've won a single attack yet in the new system have you? I do suppose you'd have to actually participate in an attack and not worry about your win/loss record though. It's funny how 2 weeks ago you were singing our praises on getting our act together, having good commanders and bragging about the night flips only to have your tune change when things don't go your way. Make up your mind dude. Props to the captains/commanders in all Eastern and Western Alliance groups who actually take on the risk of attacking and leading fights in this heavily defender favored system. It's not an easy meta to break and it takes a lot of guts to lead a group of guys knowing how heavily the deck is stacked in favor of the other side. I tried to have a sensible "no hate" answer, but you just keep rolling down hill and there is nothing I appreciate in your reply. Not the tone you have chosen, not the way you have worded your reply. We have been in alliance with them when they had no people and when we had no people. They are the only one nation that was always true to their word. To all players from US, Great Britain or Dutch: If you want to participate in port battles, if you want to fight other players, IGNORE all the more "influential" players or clans. They have nothing on you. you paid 40 bucks just like they did. Do whatever you want!!! Last time I checked there were no kings or even mechanics for leadership so ignore those said "influential" players or clans.

Bottom line, don't let anyone tell you that you can't fight if you're in GB, Dutch, or US. You deserve to PvP if you want to. If the big clans choose not to fight, it's on them. If you don't have the numbers and sink in battle against us, your not only going to gain our respect but we may see that your ship is replaced.

Lots of pissing and moaning about having no resources and allies helping but we could see OneEye and Cordova having some quality alone time in CKA TS. Yes we do have eyes everywhere! I'm sure that CKA can produce all sorts of ships for the Dutch and even if they can't, GB and US resource ports are available for the Dutch to build ships in.......or, get this...you could declare war on someone and take their ports for yourself. It's called PvP and it is good! I really don't get how these people play Conan Exiles by the way they play here. Perhaps they are on a PvE server there. I'm on one of the most brutal PvP servers there and I get ganked and raided with much more frequency and regularity than I ever do in Naval Action....fight dammit!

Hi british mates and PB enemies (in this case HRE), I just want to say some short personal remarks: a) I attended the PB at "Port au Prince" as a single Royal member yesterday - it was my first real PB also...(usually I am more a trader or Screener) therefore it was a very nice fight and experience for me and, as I heard in the aftermath, for all other GB participants, c) as an unexperienced PB player it is very useful to recap / revaluate this PB on the videostream from Redii - thanks for that and all other who usually stream and post PB in the Forum. d) thanks also to Redii that he is speaking german very well ( ) - as an native german speaker it is easier for me to understand the opposite side of the battle and see where the mistakes from our side could be found - e) I am looking forward for the next one...and it was also a pleasure to be with AHOY, sruPL Jister, and all other GB players... f) sruPL - next time we make two Lines directly and hit the enemy like Nelson at Trafalgar...on the other hand no PB is the same... I made many posts on this very specific topic several times and so did some others. Those of us who have been preaching this have given many examples of ways to add content to the game. @sruPL made a long forum post on this that many in the community agree with. Currently the content in this game consists of either PvE missions, or the PvE daily challenges. If your a PvP'er, level up to high enough rank to man a 4th rate and/or a 1st rate, then participate in port battles, or sail around in the PvP admiralty event and hope for some action that most likely never comes, but if it does come, either you are being chased or your chasing someone because of the uneven match-ups you are guaranteed to run into in OW PvP.

I tend to agree. Lots of he-said she-said going on. None of it matters really. But I do want to add one thing, which is as relevant as most of the other posts.... Since this seems to be a member-measuring contest, then yes - the French are bigger than the Dutch.

I see arguments on both sides - overall this thread is not helping anything anymore and has lead to mudslinging. No matter who started it I think it's time to move on. And if someone decides to bring up the past, it should be ignored.

Ich mach es so: Seite an Seite segeln, dabei ist es sehr wichtig, die richtige Geschwindigkeit zu haben. Wenn du zu schnell bzw. langsam bist, dreht die Navy brig, und wenn du Pech hast, endet dies in einem endlosen Gedrehe, da die AI so programmiert ist, dass wenn sie einen Befehlt erhält, eine bestimmte Breitseite abzufeuern, sie erst wieder etwas anderes macht, wenn der Befehl auch ausgeführt wurde. Aber mit ein bisschen Übung sollte dies kein Problem sein. (T für Depowern wenn du zu schnell bist und wechseln zwischen 100% - 80% - 60% und evtl. sogar 40% Segel nicht vergessen). Wenn du Seite an Seite fährst, nimmst du dann die Seiten-HP des gegnerischen Schiffes runter. Sobald die Seite keine HP mehr hat, wechselst du auf grape, und schiesst erst, wenn alle Kanonen geladen sind. Das Ziel ist nun, das Schiff in Crew-Shock zu versetzen, da für die Zeit im Crew schock das Wasser nicht herausgepumpt wird und das Schiff folglich schneller sinkt. Beim letzten bzw. dritten Schiff lass ich auch gerne das 'Gegrape' sein und wechsel auf die andere Seite des gegnerischen Schiffes, um so noch ein bisschen mehr Schadenspunkte zu erzielen. Hängt natürlich davon ab ob ich mich beeilen muss oder nicht. Bezüglich Setup meinerseits: Mahogany, Build strength (kein regional bonus da im Capital gecraftet, reicht aber völlig aus) Extra Planking, Optimised Rudder, Improved Magazine Access Rum Rations, Steel Toolbox, Carpenter Teams, Powder Monkeys, Extra Hammocks Viel Glück

обьективности ради надо признать, что ЛаВега была проиграна пиратами по причине плохой организованности, а не из-за плохого ветра, как, например, Порт-о-Пренс. Бурги-пираты тяготеют к "НАТО". Лично я симпатизирую русскоязычным датчанам, особенно тем, кто заходит на глубоководный ивент, но их ужасно мало.

Things might look bad right now fellows but do not worry. We will get through this. Pirates have thrown similar tantrums before and bullied anyone that attempted to oppose them simply because they were not getting their way which in many cases are their own faults. They want us Dutch to go and take join up with the Swedes, Danes, French, and Spanish alliance. They also apparently want to toss our supposed "leader" @OneEyedSnake to the curb. I simply say "piss off." We are a faction of many leaders not just one. I am not going to be bullied by the likes of those worthless scumbags. I do not expect you guys will either. France sure maybe down the line but not with the pirates being their hooligan selves at the moment and how young most of the French are currently. Spanish are too far away and too few to help us and our small numbers. Props and best wishes to the Spanish @Teutonic. Danes we will never ally with as long as they are close with pirates and are helping the Swedes. The Swedes I rather be one ported than to be allied with those racist Nazi trash. So we fight on. They can continue to treat everyone like crap but we will not give in.

A few things to State: 1. Base upon preliminary sightings over the week and talks with some of the guys, there are 8? active Spanish players. This was determined based on replies in Nation chat throughout the days during the week. 2. Spanish Politics will not be clouded by me, I will merely be Spain's mouthpiece on the forums - specifically, if the Spanish players want to ally different nations or find other alternatives to their current situation, I hope other nations are open to it (EDIT: And I should add Pirates because lets face it, they are a political force.) 3. The main goal of the current Spanish players is stated as such "To hold any and all counties on the Island of Cuba at all costs." However big or ambitious the goal is, I support the wishes of my fellow conquistadors. This will likely shape Spain's political situation for the coming future. ---------------------------------------------- Spain has a small playerbase, but each one is willing to fight pretty much anyone and everything, it's actually really awesome and I have already been fighting some rather good US sailors in the area in their trade ships no less. Embarrassing it may be, but their sailing qualities have made me rethink how I have to fight them a little bit, So I thank these US players for encouraging me to do better for the next fight. There has been word from a few US players and specifically the DD clan of their willingness to give us a couple regions with little to no resistance from them, although they are quoted in saying "Not all US players think this way, so there may still be groups who will fight you." If nothing else, it is good to see an apparent change in some diplomacy/politics that, whether the alliances change or not, there can still be some deals with specific clans. If you're trading around the Habana coastline, be warned, we are out there. Furthering this thread - the reports and updates you'll see will be battles of significance and port battles (more than just one player on Spanish side) and political updates. Whether we win a battle or lose a battle, it will be posted here.

France has all ready been told they can take Trinidad if they want. It's up to them to grind it and flip it. It's not on the top of there list right now. It takes time after all. So before you speak about what we do or don't do shut up.....you have no clue what we have worked out with other nations. As for you resources you lost Mahog...which your alliance still has three more regions of. You didn't loose anything else you can't get from another regions around your others. Again isn't that the whole point of having an alliance?

I loved How the US came at us after Dday every day. We punched them in the Nose, Knocked them out cold, Some cryed, Others Complaned alot, but some got back up Over and Over and Loved it call it a Crash course in PVP. I gave Ships good Ships away so they could keep coming and I was not alone in That. We Picked up a few new Pirates because of it, Tuff Love I guess

My main contention with this is calling the nation mine. I clearly remember at the beginning of this meeting, which i made very clear to all dutch it was up to them, that while we may decide something it was up to everyone on the alliance thing. I also told you that we had a majority support in our nation to ally with the danes. Which was true. However Texas started bad talking people that we consider friends, that really affected our look on you guys, and unfortunately combined with about 45% of people not wanting the alliance in the first place made it not happen. And i know for a fact i told you that i was not the leader, we had no leader, and we still dont. The only thing as a nation we have to offer vs any other nation is the way we govern, we literally get no new players for months on end then one or two will show up. My secondary point is this, at that time we had a whole clan of 20 active people of fairly mid level, all of which left, save for 2, Onbekende and Sliver, shortly after the fine wood update. We actually havent had anyone leave due to the recent pirate carebear pick on the small guys way. We all knew it was coming when we hit castries, But thats what allies do, we attacked it to get you off the US for at least a bit, which it worked. Sure we would have taken it if not for that wind and if we could have beaten you in battle, but make no mistake, we definitely declared war on you guys, and meant it. My third concern is that of your idea that we dont know if we attack our regions you will one port us. Texas, Joba, JPV, etc. have all said this. So screw your bait trap, you can enjoy bullying no one, we will not take part of your antics.

IMO there should be no discrimination ( and more so transferring responsibility to devs when it should be player's... wtf... ) especially if there's no griefing intent. The same issue with joining PBs without being on the organized roster happens since forever, it is not a new thing. So it may well happen that he simply joins out of "want to have fun". Why you guys always think the worst possible scenario is a let down. What about you guys reach him through PM ? Anyway back to the thread purpose... Many thanks for all the Port battles videos. Hey everyone! So, i'm a big fan of demasting. It is one of the things that take alot of practice to master. It is more skill based than Chain and it requires you to be close to your target. However, atm demasting is not really a viable tactic. You barely see anyone demast other players in the OW and i personally find this to be very sad. I'd be more than happy to suggest some test values for mast thickness/cannon penetration so that we can have it implemented on the test server for testing. But alas, i'm not doing the work unless the Devs will let us test these values. PS. I'm not saying we should make demasting OP again (As it was before the great carronade nerf). However i am saying it should be just as viable a tactic as chaining. - Also, i am aware that you can, on the test server, weaken the structure of the ship and then demast. However this does not seem "fair" compared to chaining being effective from the get go. So please, if you support the idea of making demasting viable again, please like this post and/or comment below with your own opinion! Thank you very much for reading. Cheers. Tommy Shelby. What 'fast sailing qualities' you´re talking about? Got a source with knots etc? And never, ever judge the sailing qualities of a ship by it´s hull shape, it doesn´t work. They were a combination of many things and the hull shape was only a small part of it. The fastest frigates (15 knots) in the late era of the age of sail, like the british Inconstant and the danish Gefion, had a relatively full bow, for example. And a sharp bow may be an advantage in a light and 'flat' sea, but it made the ship prone to severe pitching as soon as the sea got up with a considerable impact on it´s max speed. Hogging would be another problem as there´s not enough buoyancy fore to support the structure.
