  1. in my opinion night flips are not todays problem but church flips now you might be thinking what are church flips? well this is flipping ports at times when people have to go to church and this makes it unable for those people to defend so let us stop this when we can

Thanksgiving – (fourth Thursday in November in United States) — Holiday generally observed as an expression of gratitude, traditionally to God, for the autumn harvest. It is traditionally celebrated with a meal shared among friends and family in which turkey is eaten. It is celebrated by many as a secular holiday, and in the USA marks the beginning of the "holiday season". In Canada, since the climate is colder, the harvest season begins (and ends) earlier and thus, Thanksgiving takes place on the second Monday in October. Winter Solstice, Yule – (Winter solstice, around 21–22 December in the northern hemisphere and 21–22 June in the southern hemisphere) — The celebrations on the winter solstice, the longest night and shortest day of the year, are traditionally marked with anything that symbolizes or encourages life. Decorations of evergreens, bright objects and lights; singing songs, giving gifts, feasting and romantic events are often included. For Neopagans this is the celebration of the death and rebirth of the sun and is one of the eight sabbats on the wheel of the year. Hanukkah – (26 Kislev – 2/3 Tevet – almost always in December) — Jewish holiday celebrating the defeat of Seleucid forces who had tried to prevent Israel from practicing Judaism, and also celebrating the miracle of the Menorah lights burning for eight days with only enough olive oil for one day. Christmas Eve – (24 December) — Day before Christmas. Observances usually include big feasts at night to celebrate the day to come. It is the supposed night that Santa Claus delivers presents to all the good children of the world. Christmas Day – (25 December) — Christian holiday commemorating the traditional birth-date of Jesus. Observances include gift-giving, the decoration of trees and houses, and Santa Claus folktales. Kwanzaa (USA) – (26 December – 1 January) — A modern American invention held from 26 December to 1 January honoring African-American heritage, primarily in the United States. It was invented in 1966 by black activist and marxist Ron Karenga. St Stephen's Day or Second Day of Christmas (26 December) — Holiday observed in many European countries. Boxing Day (26 December or 27 December) — Holiday observed in many Commonwealth countries on the first non-Sunday after Christmas. New Year's Eve – (31 December) — Night before New Year's Day. Usually observed with celebrations and festivities in anticipation of the new year. New Year's Day – (1 January) — Holiday observing the first day of the year in the Gregorian calendar. 9. Seen a few of these posts but thought I might as well have a go The aim of these ideas is to make the pirates a unique 'hardcore' pvp faction with interesting mechanics but also limited economic and military strength compared to the nations. These should also keep a nice balance of power between the industrial and pvp players in the nations. Pirates Economy One economy building per player 25% tax for all trades between pirates and other nations, including player to AI and player to player (bribes, mistrust etc) Production/ships Largest ship produced by pirates will be 5th rates Cannot purchase ships from other nations, any ships larger than a 5th rate will have to be captured (1 dura) Conquest Pirates will be unable to participate in the current conquest mechanics Nations will be unable to launch a port battle/flag against pirate ports New 'control' system describing the difficulties nations had at the time keeping the peace in their colonies Each national port/region will have a base 'control' score (CS) which will naturally decay over time. Local merchants (AI) will create hauling missions for national players to take goods to any ports that need it (similar to the current missions) to increase the CS for that region. If the CS for the region goes too low the nation then has 24 hours to increase the CS above the base score or the region will flip to the pirates. To recover a pirate port (any) nation can send goods near the port to reduce the pirate CS. If the CS goes low enough and stays below the base CS for 24 hours the port will flip to the nation that delivered the most goods. Pirate CS is increased by pirates transporting their own goods to the ports or by capturing/sinking enemy (player) trade ships in the region. These mechanics should create a situation where pirates become strongest on the borders or quiet areas of the national empires. Finding opportunities where nations are fighting each other and playing them off against each other. Small groups of pirates will be able to harass areas and capture a region or two by raiding ports and shipping trying to supply those ports – but find it extremely hard to hold onto those regions when an organised fleet of traders and warships try to take them back. (If technically possible) Pardons could be purchased by a pirate player at any free port which will allow them to join one of the nations for a fixed time (7/14/28 days). The cost of these pardons would depend on the rank and fame of the captain (see Zooloo's fame system for ideas) meaning a famous Curse would find it stupidly expensive. At the end of the time frame the captain would revert back to a pirate (with xp and fame penalties) and lose any of the advantages of being a national captain – 5 dura ships etc. Any comments welcome

  10. A 3 stage port conquest system that aides to improve PVP, increase the value of port battles, and overall balance out the current system. It is a work in progress, any feedback would be wonderful. I will be editing the post as necessary to include improvements and alternatives. Raiding: Started by planting a flag (with a 24 hour cooldown after every attempt) at the enemy port to designate the target, this like the old system will be announced globally, offering the enemy a chance to respond and block the flag. To progress on to the next stage (blockading), a port must be raided 3 times within a 7 day period that begins once the first raid has been completed. Note: As the developers have not made clear the combat system or the rewards for raiding, I will leave this particular stage open. Blockading: Once a port has been successfully raided 3 times within a 7 day period, a 48 hour blockading stage commences once the 3rd raid has been successfully completed. Once this stage has started, an area around the port is marked where allied captains must combat enemy ships to build up points represented by a blockade percentage (essentially similar to the current hostility system). During the blockade stage AI ships belonging to the attacking nation (and their allies) will spawn in the area, giving the chance for the defenders to reduce the blockading percentage if no enemy players are present. The difference at this stage is that a minimum blockade percentage must be reached within the 48 hour period to proceed to the next stage. Starving the port will diminish its defences ability to fire at attacking forces during the port battle. The more successful your blockade, the less supplies such as black powder and cannonballs the defences have. Securing the minimum blockade percentage should be relatively difficult, almost guaranteeing a port battle, however achieving 100% blockading percentage should be VERY difficult. On average you should be able to attain around 75-80%. The Port Battle: Influence by how effective the blockade has been, fortifications will have limited fire (and potentially range). Other than that, the port battle will continue as the current system stands.

  12. Yep just ask a lot of the Nationals on PvP2 about how they have lost there 1st rates on the OW. It wasn't all ways a iron fleet of ours that took them down. I'll admit we been using 2nd rates a lot for that, but with a group of 4/5th rates.
    2 points
  13. I think the tax is a bit much and make it 4th rates, but make it other nations can't keep captured SOL's. They can keep 4th rates and below, but if you capture a SOL it goes to the Admiralty and they get paid. Only pirates get to keep these ships. Make Kidds the capital and pirates can produce and build there. They should have a raid system not a conquest system where they raid a port and can craft in that port while it's raided and get the region bonus. Once raid is over it goes back to the owner of the region. All production stops while that port is raided. Maybe give pirates involved with the raid to get a pool of those items that would of been produced as loot. Also make Mort a neutral zone for all. The port is green zone like Pitt's was but for all nations and pirates, but any one from any nation can use the other ports at there own risk to produce the common goods. This helps out the one region nations that still can produce stuff, makes it a major trade hub and well risky pirate waters for trade too.

  22. Not at all. I quite frequently maneuver by division - it's why I name my units the way I do. I also sometimes build a skirmisher horde and move them as a unit (like in the woods on the Confederate right in 2nd Bull Run), and I only use cavalry in groups - it makes them far more effective and increases survivability. This is frustrated by the "straight line only" feature of division / group movement. I counter it somewhat by using what I call "gaggle mode", where instead of drawing a front line to give the units a formation, you make a quick squiggle around a single point just to get all the units headed in the same direction. To perform a flanking maneuver you have to do it 2 or 3 times to curve the units around, but it beats the hell out of drawing a path for each brigade - I only do that when it's required to get brigades to follow roads.

  24. When I say "move on", I do not mean quit the game. Kind of ambiguous I guess the way I wrote that. What I meant by move on was to continue playing NA and forget about the ole' nation trashing and assume a new posture moving forward. I love NA and hope that it thrives. Something got lost in the translation. Maybe I should be a Russian developer.

  25. Let me start off this proposal by saying that I really hate the new region conquest mechanics and I feel like conquest in this game is happening way too fast. I would like to propose an Idea to improve the conquest in this game by going back to port capture instead of region capture. However, in the new port capture proposal, you can only attack ports from ports in your nearby vicinity. Example 1: The dutch (in orange on the map) want to expand their empire in that area on the map. They will have to launch an attack from Fort Baai or Oranjestad. If they were to attack from Oranjestad, then the only ports within range of launching an attack would Gustavia or Basseterre. If they launched an attack from Fort Baai, then they would only be able to attack Spanish Town, The Settlement, or Phillipsburg. Also, to improve the alliance system to hopefully break the deadlock, lets say the French or Swedish wanted to attack the Spanish ports, they could ally with the Danish and launch attacks on the Spanish ports from the Danish ports in the nearby vicinity. This would help break up alliances and help new alliances form as nations figure out ways to expand where they want to expand by working with allies. For example, if the Swedes were allied with the Danish, they could pull a flag from Cabo-Rojo and attack Arecibo or Higuey. I know that from a coding perspective, that having different terrain and adding circles for capture regions for each port can be a daunting task for the developers, but if need be, just use a preset map type for most of the ports, that way you only need a handful of different map types for conquest. Also, for alliance voting, each nation can only have 1 ally, but nations that have more ally votes than war votes will become neutral and players of neutral nations can attack each other, but not attack their ports. However, for neutrality be be established, both nations will need to have more ally votes than war votes, or the nations will stay at war.

  41. That is fine, but give us an update of what the time frame might be. I know a lot of players that flat out stopped playing and won't return until the patch comes out. I know many others that just stop making ships to stock up on goods to make new ones. This killed the server pop the last big patch cause they said it will be out this and that month and than it didn't come out until a month later and we had 3 months of pretty much very low pop action cause every one was waiting.

The last patch killed my clan, (I've seen one member with two accounts over the holidays), not even the hard cores play any more. The plans sound good, but I think it will be the end of the game, I hope I'm wrong. I will play casually until we are live, then see whats what. Good luck. As for ---->" We will abandon the 5 color grades for upgrades and ships. Fine (blue), Mastercraft (purple), Common (green) are not used and thus are useless. Nobody makes them and nobody buys them." This is dumb, so gold marines or no marines, who wants half their ships crew to be marines unless they are going after Santi or Vic caps??? we need the grades.
